Hogwarts Legacy allows new Witches and Wizards to select their own wand and customize it freely in Ollivanders.

However, players can also customize their wand in advance and import it into the game using their Harry Potter Fan Club account.

One of the most prominent pieces of Hogwarts lore is that the wand chooses its user. No two wands are the same; each chooses the owner it feels suits its qualities best.

So, just how in-depth is the wand mechanic? Here is everything we know about the Wand Ceremony and customization coming to Hogwarts Legacy.

Will There Be a Wand Ceremony & Can You Change Your Wand?

Yes, Hogwarts Legacy includes a Wand Ceremony where the wand chooses the player. The ceremony occurs near the intro of Hogwarts Legacy, at the Ollivanders wand shop.

Players can get sorted into a house and earn their wand by linking their Harry Potter Fan Club account with Hogwarts Legacy.

If the wand you obtain isn’t to your liking, you’ll have an opportunity to change it when the Wand Ceremony occurs in Hogwarts Legacy.

Once your decision is locked in, that is the wand you’ll complete your playthrough with. There is no other instance to change your wand in the game.

This wand will hold all the power to cast the many spells in Hogwarts Legacy.

Is There Wand Customization in Hogwarts Legacy?

Yes, players can customize their wands in Hogwarts Legacy, changing its appearance as well as the wand core, type of wood, length, and flexibility.

What’s more, players can freely collect and customize their wand’s handle throughout the Hogwarts school year.

The first wand customization can all be done in Ollivanders when claiming your wand at the start of the game.

Here are the categories that players will be able to edit for their custom wand.

  • Wand Style – Choosing the appearance and color of the wand.
  • Wood Type – Choosing your preferred wood, length, and flexibility.
  • Wand Core Options – Choosing between a Dragon Heartstring, Unicorn Hair, or Phoenix Feather core.

It seems that only the Wand Style category will actually affect your wand’s appearance in any way. The rest of the options seem, at least initially, to be meaningless other than for roleplay purposes.

By opening the Hogwarts Legacy menu and heading to Gear, players can select Wand Handles next to their clothing options.

This will allow them to customize their wand on the go and change it aesthetically using items collected throughout the game.

Another feature of the game confirmed to be customizable is the Room of Requirement in Hogwarts Legacy.
