Hogwarts Legacy just announced a delay to its official PS4 and Xbox One release date, which means it will, unfortunately, be a bit later than initially expected.
This new magical adventure will take players through the Wizarding World of Hogwarts in a way that fans have been dreaming about for ages.
But players will need to wait a little longer than intended to get their hands on Hogwarts Legacy on last-gen platforms.
Hogwarts Legacy PS4 & Xbox One Release Date
Hogwarts Legacy will release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on May 5, 2023.
The game has been postponed by almost one month from April 4, 2023, on last-gen platforms as the developers need more time to “deliver the best possible experience on all platforms.”
Countdown to Hogwarts Legacy PS4 and Xbox One launch:

Hogwarts Legacy will launch on Nintendo Switch on July 25, 2023.
The game is already available for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC and was released on February 10, 2023 (February 7 with Early Access).

Will Hogwarts Legacy Have Early Access on PS4, Xbox One & Switch?
No, the PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch versions of Hogwarts Legacy do not have any form of Early Access.
Early Access was only available for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC versions of Hogwarts Legacy for those who pre-ordered either the Deluxe, Digital Deluxe, or Collector’s Edition. There was a 72-hour period of Early Access that began on February 7, 2023.

Why Was Hogwarts Legacy Delayed to 2023?
In their statement, Avalanche Software announced that they’d pushed their release date to 2023 to focus more on developing Hogwarts Legacy.
Avalanche Software and Portkey Games aim to create the best possible experience in the Wizarding World for players to enjoy.
Doing this will allow them to flesh out every detail in the open world of Hogwarts Legacy. This will ensure players have the best experience when first entering the Wizarding World they are building.
This is the second time Avalanche Software has delayed Hogwarts Legacy for the same reason, but this is the first time they’ve followed up with an official release date.
Avalanche Software had initially intended to release Hogwarts Legacy in 2021. But because of development, they’ve had to push back the title a few times.
It was believed that Hogwarts Legacy would launch on all platforms simultaneously, but in December 2022, it was revealed that there would be three different release dates.
The game’s PS5 and Xbox Series S|X versions kept the same launch date, while the PS4 and Xbox One versions were pushed back.
The Nintendo Switch release date was also announced, but even further away than the other two.
Now, Hogwarts Legacy on PS4 and Xbox One has been delayed again to May 5, 2023. Hopefully, this will be the final time the game is pushed back for last-gen platforms.
