One of the most exciting projects releasing this year is Hogwarts Legacy, but new reports suggest it may be delayed to 2023.
In September 2020, gamers finally got the announcement trailer they were waiting for. An open-world Harry Potter game that lets players attend Hogwarts and become the Witch or Wizard they always dreamed of being.
The announcement had a hugely-positive reception worldwide, and the trailer quickly became one of Sony’s most popular uploads. Shortly afterward, Hogwarts Legacy got a delay from its original 2021 release date and is now launching in 2022.
But a new report indicates that Hogwarts Legacy could arrive in 2023, needing a little more time to be ready. It’s a shame if true, as the return to the Wizarding World is one of our most anticipated games of 2021!
Hogwarts Legacy Development in Trouble – Delay to 2023?
A new report from Sacred Symbols host Colin Moriarty suggests that Hogwarts Legacy could be getting another delay.
The PlayStation insider suggests that he’s been “hearing behind the scenes that [the] game isn’t coming out this year.” If this proves correct, we can expect a delay to 2023 getting announced shortly.
Moriarty isn’t able to reveal any further details but it’s likely that we won’t be in the dark for long. After all, it’s been quite some time since we got Hogwarts Legacy news.
That said, WB Games Avalanche did just re-confirm a 2022 release date on Twitter. We expect to hear more in the rumored February State of Play event.
Perhaps this confirmation alone should give us faith that Hogwarts Legacy is on track for 2022. It’s worth noting that Moriarty’s claim isn’t definitive, and the insider has been wrong in the past.
Most notably, the podcaster made claims that Starfield would come to PS5, something that was later proven incorrect. After all Bethesda games became officially Xbox and PC exclusive, the insider was quick to take back his statement.
We hope that Hogwarts Legacy isn’t in trouble, as it’s one of the best single-player experiences releasing in 2022! And there are some big ones on that list.
Meanwhile, as PS5 and Xbox prices drop, you’ve got plenty of time to find a next-gen console before launch day. And although Hogwarts Legacy is also launching on Xbox One, PS4, and PC, next-gen is definitely the place to play a game of this caliber
