New Hogwarts Legacy maps, including the school’s surrounding environment and Hogsmeade village, are leaking ahead of the game’s launch.
With several fans getting their hands on an early copy of the game, it didn’t take long for leaked footage to reveal exactly what the open world map looks like.
As most Harry Potter fans will know by now, Hogwarts Legacy will be fully open-world. The game puts an emphasis on allowing players to explore not only the castle but the Wizarding World as a whole.
Whether on a broomstick or via Hogwarts Legacy’s magical fast-travel system, players will be able to travel to Hogsmeade, the Forbidden Forest, and even small wizard communities around the neighboring grounds.
The footage shows off the game’s sprawling open world, though much of it is shrouded in darkness to begin with. It seems that further details will be unlockable via exploring the Wizarding World.
Hogwarts Legacy Art Book Map Leaks
In addition, beautifully-drawn maps, alongside an array of juicy details, are coming from an advance copy of the official Hogwarts Legacy art book.
And now, ahead of its February release date, ‘The Art and Making of Hogwarts Legacy: Exploring the Unwritten Wizarding World’ is leaking in its entirety. One user going by Flitch on Discord is posting new never-seen-before images that appear to be straight out of the Harry Potter game’s art book.

One image reveals an early draft of the Hogwarts Legacy world map, though Warner Bros. was quick to get the post taken down.
The image revealed the Wizarding World’s tremendous scale, revealing mountain regions, lakes and rivers, a sprawling (possibly Forbidden) forest – and at the center of it all, what is likely to be Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Official Hogwarts Legacy Map Revealed
However, in an official Hogwarts Legacy – Behind the Scenes video posted by Warner Bros in 2022, we see that the map has changed considerably since its initial draft.
The mountain ranges remain, but it seems the final map contains much more greenery than the concept art first suggested.
Another leaked image reveals Hogsmeade, the all-wizarding village that students may visit on weekend trips, assuming they have permission from a parent or guardian. The map even reveals that Hogsmeade will contain 20 different interactable shops.
As some fans will know though, only PlayStation users will be able to OWN one of those shops for themselves. And it comes with a spooky-looking side quest exclusive to Sony consoles.
Hogwarts Castle Map
If that wasn’t enough, a new map reveals the inner workings of Hogwarts Castle, including the locations of all four common rooms for the student houses!
Bear in mind that these maps are all completely subject to change. And though the art book appears real, we’d take this leak with a pinch of salt for now too.
We’re only days away from the launch of Hogwarts Legacy, and while PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch fans will have to wait a while longer, we can’t wait to go hands-on with the game for ourselves.
