Avalanche Software game director, Alan Tew, has announced that they have no plans to add DLC to Hogwarts Legacy in the near future.
While it isn’t unexpected for developers to not announce DLC for a game that has just released, fans may be disappointed to learn that there is no DLC is planned at all.
This information comes from an interview with IGN in which Tew said, “We’ve been really heads down bringing [Hogwarts Legacy] to life […] so at the moment there are no current plans for DLC.”
This is despite Hogwarts Legacy having sold 12 million copies in its first two weeks and the possibility that it might be getting it’s own HBO show in the future.
However, according to Hogwarts Legacy’s lead StoryTech engineer, Eric J Brown, DLC for the game may release after the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions launch in April and the Nintendo Switch version releases later this year.
In a statement on Twitter, Brown clarified Tew’s comments by implying that DLC may arrive after the last-gen versions of the game launch.
While he didn’t expressly say that Hogwarts Legacy will be getting DLC in the future, he reminded fans that PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch users don’t have the game, and that they “don’t want to short-change those folks.”
Is Hogwarts Legacy Getting DLC?
It is unclear at the moment whether Hogwarts Legacy will get DLC in the future. However, considering its success and the ambiguous comments of its developers, it may receive some form of DLC.
Additionally, while DLC hasn’t been confirmed, Hogwarts Legacy ends with plenty of time left in the school year for additional story to be logically added.
Of course, it’s worth remembering that Hogwarts Legacy already has DLC that you can download right now.
Additionally, mods are adding entire new features to the game, including the ability to play all of Hogwarts Legacy with your friends in multiplayer.
Hogwarts Legacy DLC Rumours
While nothing is concrete, fans have plenty of ideas for potential future DLC. These include adding Quidditch to the game, official multiplayer, mini-games and new locations to explore outside the game’s already enormous open world.
Here is everything fans would like to see added as DLC in the future:
- Quidditch as it was surprisingly absent from the main game.
- New locations such as Diagon Alley and the Ministry of Magic.
- Official multiplayer to Hogwarts Legacy.
- More companion focused quests.
- New mini-games such as Wizard Chess and Gobstones.
- More clothing and customization options.
- Additional mounts to unlock.
- Triwizard Tournament.
- New spells.
- More enemies and beasts to capture.
Of course, while we all wait for DLC, there’s the PlayStation exclusive quest that fans are raving about, which is coming to Xbox, PC and Switch in the future.
