After what seems like an eternity of waiting, Halo Infinite finally has a new game mode on the way with ‘Last Spartan Standing’.
Halo Infinite is in a bit of a dry spell right now. 343 Industries’ title just had its Fracture: Tenrai event back for the fifth time, and we’re still waiting on the roadmap that was initially scheduled to release in January.
With Season 2 dropping on May 3, there are still a few weeks until we actually get the new content that the game desperately needs.
As for what’s coming in Season 2, we do have a decent idea already. We’ve got a full breakdown of all the new maps, modes, and cosmetics revealed for Halo Infinite Season 2 here!
But perhaps 343 is looking to surprise fans with a new game mode alongside previously-revealed content.
Halo Infinite Last Spartan Standing Sounds Like Gun Game
Could a Gun Game-esque game mode be coming to Halo Infinite with Last Spartan Standing?
Recently, players are discovering the existence of a hidden game mode inside Halo Infinite. Although not yet playable, the Last Spartan Standing mode appears when playing the game in offline mode.
Interestingly, Last Spartan Standing is the first new game mode that seems to be coming to Big Team Battle, Infinite’s large-scale warfare mode. So far BTB definitely hasn’t seen any love, especially considering that the mode was unplayable for weeks on end.
The new game mode description is as follows:
“Every Spartan for themselves! Level-Up your loadout by earning Personal Score to be the last Spartan standing”
Currently, the game mode is not playable, however it does appear when viewing Halo Infinite‘s Custom Game options. We’ve seen modes such as Attrition appear here shortly before becoming available, so it’s possible that a surprise release is on the way!
This description certainly makes the new mode sound like a spin on Gun Game, a classic game mode that has players rotating through weapons with every kill in order to reach the threshold first.
However, with 24 players present in Big Team Battle games and what sounds like only one winner, perhaps this will scratch that Battle Royale itch at last.
Recently, both NICKMERCS and TimTheTatman spoke up about a Halo Infinite Battle Royale once again. It’s clearly still a priority for many streamers, and Halo Infinite BR leaks still have fans excited.
However, right now, Halo Infinite’s player count is hitting new lows. We can only hope that Season 2 (or the surprise release of Last Spartan Standing) is enough to give the game a resurgence.
