One of the most rumored modes in gaming history, it seems that the Halo Infinite Battle Royale could be coming in 2022 after all!
Even before the release of Halo Infinite, there have been whispers that the game would be getting a Battle Royale.
Back in July last year, we had major details leak for a Halo Infinite BR, but nothing ever seemed to come of it.
There’s even a leaked audio file that appears to confirm a Battle Royale coming to Infinite, though it doesn’t appear in the game at any point. Now, things are beginning to make sense, as Windows Central’s best and brightest reveals what he’s been hearing about Infinite lately.
Halo Infinite Battle Royale Mode Release Date & Details
It seems that the rumors of Halo Infinite’s Battle Royale are true. Today, we have new word from Xbox insider Jez Corden on exactly what’s in store.
Recently, independent game developer Certain Affinity confirmed that it was working on “further evolving” Halo Infinite alongside 343 Industries. Now, it seems that the leaks may have been right, and the team is hard at work on a Battle Royale mode.
“This is a huge mode. This mode has been in development for over 2 years,” Corden states on the Xbox Two podcast.
The insider reports that the Halo Infinite Battle Royale mode is a huge “Call of Duty Warzone-scale undertaking”.
Reportedly, the Halo Infinite Battle Royale will release in Season 3 or Season 4, in 2022. Assuming that the game hits its target, that would put the mode’s launch later this year, now that Infinite is moving to a 3-month season with Season 2.
Speaking of Season 2, Certain Affinity won’t be interrupting Halo Infinite development, being a separate team entirely. 343 Industries will likely continue its work on upcoming Halo Infinite game modes, maps, and major updates as normal.
We just got brand-new footage of the Halo Infinite Season 2 maps, but it sounds as though the season after that may be infinitely more exciting…
Meanwhile, Halo Infinite’s Forge Mode is also dropping in Season 3 and it sounds massive. Could this be the update that brings back the game’s player base in a big way?
Corden alleges that user-generated content from Forge mode will also be tied into the Battle Royale in some manner. But what exactly that means, we’ll have to wait and see!
But we might not have to wait too long! After all, there’s a mini Battle Royale-esque mode coming to Halo Infinite soon…
