Players will encounter eight different Gym Leaders throughout their Pokemon Scarlet & Violet journey, of which three have already been revealed.
Gym Leaders act like bosses in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet and can be challenged at any time as part of one of the many varied story paths: Victory Road.
By defeating them all, you will progress through the Victory Road story path and will eventually become the greatest trainer in Paldea.
Brassius – Artazon Gym
Brassius is the Grass-type Gym Leader in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet who runs the Gym in the flower-filled town of Artazon.
To get to him, you’ll first need to seek out all of the hidden Sunflora in Artazon. These are Pokemon that look just like sunflowers, so they might be a little tricky to find in a town known for its flowers.

Once you’ve spotted them all, you’ll be able to take on the whip-wielding Gym Leader Brassius. He’s always looking for the art in everything, even in fights with the trainers who challenge him.
What Pokemon Does Brassius Use in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet?
Brassius will use the following Pokemon against you in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet:
- Smoliv
- Sudowoodo

Many keen-eyed Pokemon fans may spot that Sudowoodo – despite looking like a tree – isn’t a Grass-type Pokemon. However, Brassius can use the brand-new Terastal mechanic to turn it into a Grass-type.
Grusha – Glaseado Gym
Grusha is the Ice-type Gym Leader in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet who runs the Gym in the snowy town of Glaseado.
Once an avid snowboarder, Grusha has now transitioned to be the full-time Gym leader of Glaseado. He’s typically quite coolheaded, hiding behind his large fluffy coat and scarf.

However, when you challenge him to a fight, all of those bottled-up emotions explode and his passion for Pokemon truly shines through.
What Pokemon Does Grusha Use in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet?
Grusha will use the following Pokemon against you in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet:
- Cetitan

Cetitan is one of the many brand-new Gen 9 Pokemon that players can encounter while exploring Paldea. The “titan” in its name isn’t a coincidence, as Cetitan is a truly enormous Pokemon.
Grusha is likely to use more than just Cetitan against you. However, it is currently the only Pokemon we know about in her team.
Iono – Levincia Gym
Iono is the Electric-type Gym leader who runs the Levincia Gym when she’s not too busy being a famous streamer and influencer.
She runs a popular online show called the Iono Zone where she interacts with her fans and poses fun puzzles such as who her Pokemon partner could be.

The two Magnemites on her head shouldn’t be mistaken for real Pokemon, however. Apparently, they’re just fancy hair clips that spin around whenever she gets excited.
What Pokemon Does Iono Use in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet?
Iono will use the following Pokemon against you in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet:
- Bellibolt

While we don’t know every Pokemon that will appear in her party, from her hairclips alone its safe to assume she’ll probably use a Magnemite as well.
That is every Gym Leader you’ll face in Scarlet & Violet. Of course, to stand a chance at defeating any of them, you’ll want to capture some of the new Pokemon, and perhaps even the nightmarish Wiglett.
