Despite being a single-player-focused experience, with the push to live-service gaming and an increase in online gaming trends, many may be wondering if you need PS Plus to enjoy God of War Ragnarok.

Games that feel as if they should have been single-player experiences are often shoved into an online/live-service model.

These games require players to have a paid PlayStation Plus subscription to enjoy them. Now that games tend to be around $70, for many players that extra cost isn’t reasonable.

However, as these are an additional cost every month, many are rightfully worried they’ll have to fork out even more money to enjoy God of War Ragnarok. Fortunately, we’re here to tell you if that’s true.

Does God of War Ragnarok Require PS Plus

No, you do not need a paid PS Plus account to access any part of God of War Ragnarok on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. With it being an offline, single-player experience, PS Plus is not a requirement.

However, if you want to know what has happened in the God of War timeline so far, you can play the original trilogy plus God of War: Ascension and God of War 2018 with a PS Plus Premium subscription.

Also, if you only want to play God of War 2018, this game is available with the PS Plus Extra tier.

Is God of War Ragnarok Coming to PS Plus Day One?

God of War Ragnarok will not be available on any PS Plus subscription tier on launch day. This is unlike Xbox first-party releases which almost always come to Game Pass on day one.

Sony has said that players shouldn’t expect first-party or third-party games to go to PS Plus on day one. Only a few games have come to PS Plus on launch day, including Fall Guys and Stray.

While it’s not free on PS Plus, those who purchase it on PS5 will be treated to fantastic graphics modes. There are a lot, so make sure to choose the best graphics mode in God of War Ragnarok.

Will God of War Ragnarok Have Multiplayer?

Unfortunately, for players excited to play God of War Ragnarok with their friends, it will not have a multiplayer mode.

God of War Ragnarok is a strictly single-player experience and one that players can expect to enjoy solo for its entire duration.

The only God of War game to feature multiplayer was God of War: Ascension, where players fought one another in arenas. It seems highly unlikely God of War Ragnarok would receive such a mode.
