Ghosts of Tsushima is one of the last great games of the PS4. Despite this, the game was well-received, meaning a Ghosts of Tsushima 2 may be on the horizon.
The original is due for release on PS5. This makes sense, considering the game is still relatively recent.
Most triple-A projects get a cross-gen release these days. Especially if they come out close to the start of a new generation like Ghosts of Tsushima did.
According to a recent job advertisement, Sucker Punch studios may be recruiting fresh talent to work on a sequel – or for some other purpose.
We can rule out the position being to work on the port of the original game. It seems the studio already has everything they need to press forward with this.
Ghosts of Tsushima 2 or Story-Driven DLC
The job vacancy itself is a narrative writer position, asking for applicants who have a “desire to write stories set in feudal Japan.” And “that knowledge of the time period's history would be a bonus.”
This essentially confirms that the position is for new content. This could turn out to be for some story-driven DLC, but it seems a little late in the day to recruit for such a position.
Developers usually plan DLC well in advance, so it seems unlikely to be an expansion to the original game. However, we’re not going to rule out a stand-alone expansion like Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
The position could just as likely be for Ghosts of Tsushima 2. This would also make sense as the studio may be keen to capitalize on the original's success.
Recruiting new writers that are experienced in the subject matter would be a sensible thing to do. However, we’ll need to wait and see what Sucker Punch does in the near future for confirmation.
Speaking of Spiderman: Miles Morales, check out the new footage!
