GameStop Is Allegedly Hoarding PS5, Xbox Series X, and Switch OLED for Black Friday

Black Friday season is going to be hectic for the console market, but GameStop is allegedly preparing for it by hoarding PS5, Xbox Series X, and Switch OLED consoles.

Saying that Black Friday is going to be crazy this year is an understatement. Some gamers have been waiting for almost a year to get their current-gen consoles.

Numerous times during this year, retailers repeated the story over and over. Restocks of PS5, Xbox Series X, and Switch OLED depleted in seconds.

Many retailers implemented waiting queues, invitations, and early access for their drops.

Still, all these efforts have done little to mitigate the frustration of all the gamers who still leave each restock empty-handed.

GameStop seemingly wants to avoid this from happening this Black Friday.

GameStop Rumored Black Friday Restock Tactics

According to a gamer on Twitter, his local GameStop stated it is ramping up for the Black Friday season by building its PS5, Xbox Series X, and Switch OLED consoles stock.

This is certainly a possibility. Especially considering there have already been rumors of an upcoming GameStop PS5 restock during November.

It will only make sense for GameStop to prepare for the high-demand season.

After the events that transpired in 2020, it is expected that more gamers will be eager to visit their local retailer to pick up a console.

GameStop Hoarding PS5 Black Friday

As well, GameStop has constantly been arranging in-store events for its customers recently to alleviate demand.

GameStop is not the only retailer rumored to hoard current-gen consoles. Not long ago, a video that showed a Walmart warehouse full of PS5 units went viral.

Of course, even if this is true, it does not mean that getting a console will be easy. In the past, GameStop has experienced a vast amount of technical issues during its restocks.

In the best-case scenario, GameStop will be able to get a decent stock of PS5, Xbox Series X, and Switch OLED consoles. But, demand will also be through the roof, making it harder than usual to get a console.

Due to this, we always advise that you prepare on time. Call your local GameStop at least a day in advance and see what they have in store.

Each location is different, and stock varies widely from store to store.

Hoarding consoles? You mean managing inventory? Hate to break it to you, but every company does that.

I worked there for ten years and I can confirm we did this with every system when they were in demand. The wii was the hottest one while I was working there. We had about 40 in my shitty small mall location. Toward the end of my time there they even had us horde used systems for their shitty forced bundles.

Wow a "GameStop is hording" article without proof, but subtly bashing GameStop at the same time. Yawn...
