Fortnite is finally re-introducing Junk Rifts in its final Summer update. Here’s where to find them on the island:
The Fortnite No Sweat Summer event might be ending but we’re getting one final update to enjoy some fun in the sun this week.
As ever, Epic Games is making sure that the battle royale feels fresh, by changing up the map, loot pool, and more with each new update.
Last week we saw Crash Pads and more return to Fortnite. But this time around, the developer is adding something a little more exciting.

What Are Junk Rifts & What Do They Do in Fortnite?
A Junk Rift is an Epic utility item in Fortnite that players can throw to spawn a rift. However, unlike most rifts, this one will spawn a random object which plummets to the ground and deals massive damage.
Assuming stats are the same as before the item was vaulted, expect 200 damage on a direct hit, or 100 when damaging players with the shockwave created.
The spawned item also does infinite structure damage, collapsing even the largest of towers.
Cars, anchors, dinosaurs, and more can all spawn from a Junk Rift, and the rift will also drop some materials, ammo, and weapons for you to make use of.

Where to Find Junk Rifts in Fortnite
The 3 best places to find Junk Rifts in Fortnite are the high-tier loot areas:
- Tilted Towers
- Coney Crossroads
- The Daily Bugle
However, players can find a Junk Rift as rare floor loot, or in Chests and Supply Drops anywhere on the island. There is no guaranteed location where a Junk Rift spawn can be found, so you’ll need to get lucky while searching.

It’s likely that Junk Rifts won’t stick around forever. In fact, players probably only have until the Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4 start date to enjoy them while they can.
