Fortnite has added a brand-new never-seen-before item in Chapter 3 Season 4 – and the game as we know it now revolves around the Chrome Splash.
As the island begins to be taken over by Chrome, a lot of this season’s new offerings allow you to fight fire with fire. The new Chrome Splash item lets players harness the power of Chrome, giving them a major advantage over enemies.
What Does a Chrome Splash Do?
Chrome Splash can be used in Fortnite in the following ways:
- A Chrome Splash can be thrown at the ground to turn you to Chrome for a limited time in Fortnite.
- Chrome players will be immune to fire damage and have the ability to turn into a Blob!
- You can also throw a Chrome Splash at a wall to turn it into Chrome.
- Walls plated with Chrome are completely penetrable – you can even step right through them!
- This item can also be used to get the new EvoChrome Shotgun and Burst Rifle in-game! Don’t forget to take advantage of the new mechanic whenever possible.

How to Turn into a Blob in Fortnite
After being turned to Chrome via a Chrome Splash, players can sprint to instantly turn into a Blob.
Chrome Blobs will move faster and be harder to hit. Not only that, but they’re completely immune to fall damage, so don’t worry if you take a tumble from the new Cloudy Condos POI.
Blobs can also use a new air dash by double-jumping for an added boost. Dash into a building and you’ll instantly Chrome-ify it, allowing you to pass through the wall with ease.
Where to Find a Chrome Splash – Map Locations
The new Chrome Splash can be found as common ground loot all over the Fortnite map! There’s no need to worry about where you’re dropping as there’s plenty of Chrome to go around!
You can even use this handy trick to instantly duplicate the Chrome Splash for your entire squad!
Meanwhile, here’s how to unlock The Herald – Fortnite Chapter 3 Season 4’s new ‘secret’ skin. If you’re going to be Chrome anyway, you may as well be the big bad of the season.
