Fortnite The Dip Emote Is Helping Players Dodge Bullets

Fortnite’s new Rainbow Royale emote ‘The Dip’ is proving a little too helpful in the Battle Royale, even helping players dodge incoming fire.

We’ve heard of Pay to Win content, but one new cosmetic is proving to be a bit overpowered, despite being completely free.

Right now, Fortnite is hosting its annual Rainbow Royale event, where players can claim an array of Pride-themed content including exclusive rainbow cosmetics.

This year, players can show their support for the LGBTQIA+ community by repping an array of items, including the Prismatic Keepsakes Spray, the Every Heart Emoticon, and The Dip Emote.

And it’s that final unlock that’s getting the most attention in-game.

How to Get The Dip Emote in Fortnite

To get your hands on The Dip, players need to go to the Item Shop, scroll to the Rainbow Royale section, and select ‘Claim’ on the exclusive emote.

We’re not certain when the emote will be leaving the store, but we’d guess it will stick around for at least a week, leaving on September 7 at earliest.

Why Is The Dip So Popular in Fortnite?

When used in-game, The Dip will drop your character to the ground almost instantly, before they spring back up and pose. But due to the emote’s fast start-up and the fact that it can be canceled with no delay simply by moving, it’s becoming quite the asset.

In fact, players are finding that the emote can be used to temporarily hide from passing enemies, or even to dodge bullets.

If you’re facing off against an enemy with a shotgun, using The Dip could help you dodge their shot completely. And what’s even better is the fact that you can instantly get to your feet to return fire, as seen in this clip from kayinterrupted on Twitter.

Streamer Chris Melburger also shows off exactly how The Dip can be used in Fortnite, with mixed but hilarious results.

Thankfully, this is at least one emote that you don’t have to pay for, so it avoids the ‘Pay to Win’ label.

That said, the emote will soon be gone from the Item Shop, so if it is determined to be a little too powerful, it may get some changes in the near future.

If you’ve missed out on getting The Dip for yourself, we expect it to return next year, just as 2021’s Rainbow Royale cosmetics came back this time around.

And The Dip isn’t the only new content coming to the battle royale. In fact, in the latest update, we got hints at VR support coming to Fortnite soon!
