What is the Fortnite Festival?

Fornite Festival is a brand new music rhythm game mode coming to Fortnite. It was developed by Harmonix, who were responsible for the beloved Guitar Hero and Rock Band games.

The recent Big Bang live event gave a first look at the new game mode:

During the event, fans got to see how the music rhythm mechanics will work. Players must hit notes in time to the music of one of Eminem’s greatest hits, Lose Yourself. It’s very reminiscent of Harmonix’s Rock Band and Guitar Hero games.

Unlike Guitar Hero, there are only four possible notes to hit and you aren’t able to use a plastic guitar controller to make the music happen. Instead, you are given four controller/PC key prompts to press and sync with the music:

According to an official press release from Epic “players can play in a band with friends or perform solo on stage with hit music by their favorite artists”. This suggests that you’ll be able to rock out in the Fortnite Festival mode with three other players.

What’s more, popular Fortnite leaker iFireMonkey revealed that the Fortnite Festival will have its own Battle Pass. You can earn the mode’s exclusive currency, “Festival Points” by completing specific quests, and redeeming them to earn rewards from the Festival Season Pass:

iFireMonkey also leaked some of the rewards set to come in the Festival Pass, including new instrument cosmetics, three new song and a The Weeknd skin:

Make sure to keep checking back to this article, as we will update it as we learn more about this awesome mode. Thankfully, there’s not long to go before we all get to jump in and rock out in Fortnite!
