Fire Emblem Engage Recruitment Guide – How to Recruit Units

The majority of the characters you can recruit in Fire Emblem Engage will be recruited at specific points in the story without you needing to do anything.

However, there are a handful of minor characters, including Jean, Anna, Jade, Seadall, and Saphir, that require an extra step to recruit them.

For those looking for a little love, a lot of the characters you can recruit in Fire Emblem Engage are actually potential romantic partners for your main character!

The process of recruiting a new character is automatic and will happen within a cutscene or a dialogue exchange. That character will then be added to your roster and will be available to use in future battles.

You will recruit a new character or improve your bonds with existing ones in almost every Chapter in Fire Emblem Engage before Chapter 23.

This also applies to Paralogue Missions, some of which allow you to recruit minor characters such as Jean and Anna.

However, some characters require a few additional steps to recruit them. So, here is how you recruit Jean, Anna, Jade, Seadall, and Saphir.

How to Recruit Jean in Fire Emblem Engage

Jean can be recruited during the Paralogue Mission Budding Talent, which is accessible between Chapter 5 and Chapter 6.

To recruit him, get Alear to use the Talk ability during the battle on Jean before the mission ends. They will have a conversation, and Jean will agree to join you.

Jean has the starting class of Martial Monk, making him a great support class. He also has the Personal Skill Expertise, which gives him significant stat buffs every time he levels up.

How to Recruit Anna in Fire Emblem Engage

Anna can be recruited during the Paralogue Mission Mysterious Merchant, which can be completed between Chapters 6 and 7.

To recruit her, you will need to wait until she stops hiding inside her treasure chest. Afterward, get Alear to use the Talk ability on her before the battle ends, and she will join you.

Anna is a recurring character who has made appearances in practically every Fire Emblem game aside from Fire Emblem Gaiden and Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia.

She has the starting class of Axe Fighter, which helps make her a ferocious fighter. You’ll also find her as a merchant in the Somniel including at the Flea Market.

How to Recruit Jade in Fire Emblem Engage

Jade can be recruited during Chapter 9, A Clash of Forces. If you don’t attempt to recruit her during this Chapter, she won’t join you.

To recruit her, you’ll need to get Diamant to use the Talk ability on her before the mission ends. If you succeed, they will have a brief conversation before she agrees to join you.

Jade has the starting class of Axe Armor, which makes her a powerful defender and attacker. She is an entirely new character in the Fire Emblem series.

How to Recruit Seadall in Fire Emblem Engage

Seadall can only be recruited during Chapter 15, Dancer In The Ruins. So, you’ll need to be patient for it to come around before he can join your ranks.

To recruit Seadall, you’ll need to get Alear to talk to him during Chapter 15. If you fail to do so, Seadall won’t be able to join you.

Seadall’s starting class is Dancer, which is very much fitting for his character. More notably, Seadall is the first official male Dancer in the entire Fire Emblem series.

Once you’ve got him recruited, here’s how to use Seadall’s Fortune Telling skills in Fire Emblem Engage!

How to Recruit Saphir in Fire Emblem Engage

Saphir can only be recruited in Fire Emblem Engage during Chapter 19, The Dead Town. She is one of the last recruitable allies in the entire game.

To recruit her, you’ll need to get Alear to use the Talk ability on her before the end of the mission. This will instigate a conversation, after which she will join you.

Saphir makes a great addition to your team, as her starting class is Warrior. She’s exceptionally strong and very good in battle.
