When the World Cup content in FIFA 23 began, EA Sports FIFA announced that players could earn a free History Makers item.
With the tournament over, these items are now being distributed to all eligible players and they feature some of the best players in World football.
And to make these items even more exciting, they will even receive boosted stats and an overall at later dates!
What Are FIFA 23 World Cup History Makers?
FIFA 23 World Cup History Makers celebrate players who were set to have a key role for their country at the 2022 World Cup.
These items are accompanied by a loan Hero or ICON of the same nation symbolizing the past and the present.
The History Makers will also upgrade twice across the FIFA 23 cycle.

Overall, there are 12 different History Makers and ICON or Hero combinations you can get. Both players you receive will be from the same country.

When Do History Makers Upgrade?
The FIFA 23 World Cup History Makers will upgrade on two different dates – 13 January 2023 and 14 February 2023. After these dates, they will no longer be eligible for another boost.
This will be a boost similar to the TOTW upgrades.

Why Did I Get a World Cup History Maker in FIFA 23?
If you are wondering why you received one of these items, it is because you logged into FIFA Ultimate Team on your console or PC at least once between 9 November 2022 and 3 January 2023.
This is a special campaign run by EA Sports FIFA and anyone who logs into the game between those dates will receive one of these players.
However, log-ins through the EA Access Trial, Web App, or Companion App do not count towards your eligibility for this reward.
How To Claim Your FIFA 23 History Maker
Claiming your History Maker item is really easy. Head into the FUT Store between 23 December 2022 and 3 January 2023 where you should see a pack containing this special item.
