FIFA 23 TOTW 18 Predictions

Starting XI

Koen Casteels – GK – 84 → 87

4 Saves & Clean Sheet / 2-0 win against FC Koln / 8.0 WhoScored match rating

Oliver Baumann had the most standout performance of the week with 11 saves. However, seeing as Hoffenheim lost, we have gone with Wolfsburg’s Casteels.

The Belgian had the highest match rating from his team’s 2-0 win.

Junior Firpo – LB – 75 → 83

1 Goal & Clean Sheet / 1-0 win against Southampton / 8.3 WhoScored match rating

Not only was Firpo’s goal an important one, but it was against relegation rivals Southampton. It was a massive bottom-of-the-table clash and the left-back’s goal made all the difference.

Eric Dier – CB – 80 → 84

1 Assist & Clean Sheet / 2-0 win against Chelsea / 7.5 WhoScored match rating

There was likely always going to be a TOTW from this Chelsea vs Tottenham fixture. Eric Dier got an assist and kept a clean sheet making him the standout pick.

Edson Alvarez – CDM → CB – 80 → 84

1 Goal / 2-1 win over Vitesse / 8.1 WhoScored match rating

The Mexican was played out of position but was one of the best players for Ajax. With a goal and Man-of-the-match performance, he is definitely a possibility for TOTW 18.

Kingsley Coman – LM → RM – 88 → 89

1 Goal & 1 Assist / 3-0 win against Union Berlin / 9.5 WhoScored match rating

Coman scored and assisted in one of the biggest games of the season. With Union Berlin chasing the title, this win was crucial for Bayern to create a larger gap.

Antonio Candreva – RM → CM – 83 → 86

1 Goal & 1 Assist / 3-0 win against Monza / 8.3 WhoScored match rating

Candreva scored and assisted as Salernitana beat Monza by three goals. If Salernitana is to avoid relegation, Candreva will be a key man for them.

Khéphren Thuram – CM – 83 → 86

1 Goal & 1 Assist / 3-0 win against Monaco / 8.9 WhoScored match rating

The Frenchman scored a sensational volley as OGC Nice beat Monaco by three goals. The young midfielder also assisted.

While Moffi scored twice and assisted, the lack of midfielder options means we feel Thuram will be selected instead.

Phil Foden – LW →  RM – 85 → 87

1 Goal & 1 Assist / 4-1 win against Bournemouth / 9.0 WhoScored match rating

The Manchester City wide man was back amongst the goals and assists at the weekend. His contributions guided the blue side of Manchester to a crucial three points in the title race.

Cristiano Ronaldo – ST – 91 → 92

3 Goals / 3-0 win against Damac FC / 9.1 SofaScore match rating

It remains to be seen if Ronaldo will receive another TOTW after only appearing in Team of the Week 16. However, when the Portuguese striker scores a hat trick it is pretty hard to ignore.

Timo Werner – ST – 84 → 87

1 Goal & 1 Assist / 2-1 win against Eintracht Frankfurt / 7.8 WhoScored match rating

The Leipzig forward scored and assisted as his side picked up all three points. With his bundles of pace, Werner is always an exciting item in FIFA.

Lionel Messi – RW → ST – 91 → 92

1 Goal & 2 Assists / 3-0 win against Marseille / 9.5 WhoScored match rating

This could easily be Kylian Mbappé who scored twice and assisted. However, Lionel Messi is yet to be awarded an inform item so we suspect he is the favorite.

FIFA 23 TOTW 18 Predictions Starting XI

Bench

Steve Mandanda – GK – 79 → 84

7 Saves & Clean Sheets / 1-0 win against Nantes / 8.4 WhoScored match rating

The French veteran was vital between the sticks as Rennes secured a 1-0 win. His seven saves made sure Doku’s goal was enough for the three points.

Anthony Jung – LWB – 72 → 82

2 Assists / 3-0 win against VfL Bochum / 8.3 WhoScored match rating

The German wing-back provided two assists as his team got a 3-0 win. While not the most appealing item, his regular card does have an alternate “CB” position which could make his TOTW a decent low-rated option.

Thiago Almada – CAM – 76 → 83

2 Goals / 2-1 win against San Jose Earthquakes / 9.4 WhoScored match rating

The MLS has returned meaning there is an even wider pool of players to select from. Almada is the standout MLS choice as his two late goals secured the win for Atlanta United.

Moussa Doumbia – LM – 68 → 80

2 Goals & 1 Assist / 5-1 win against Annecy FC / 8.3 SofaScore match rating

The Malian wide midfielder scored twice and assisted as Sochaux scored five goals. It was a big win for Ligue 2’s second place.

2 Goals / 2-1 win against Mallorca / 7.9 WhoScored match rating

The Danish attacker netted two goals as Espanyol picked up the maximum points. Braithwaite’s two goals put his side into the lead on two occasions.

Reserves

Michael Santos – ST – 71 → 81

2 Goals & 2 Assists / 4-2 win against Club Atletico Platense / 9.5 WhoScored match rating
