FIFA 23 TOTW 16 Predictions

Starting XI

Jordi Masip – GK – 74 → 83

4 Saves & Clean Sheet / 0-0 draw with Osasuna / 7.9 WhoScored match rating

There really weren’t any standout picks for this position so we’ve punted on Masip. He made four saves and got one of the highest match ratings.

Luke Shaw – LB – 84 → 87

1 Assist & Clean Sheet / 2-0 win against Leeds United / 8.3 WhoScored match rating

It’s hard to tell which position a TOTW Shaw may be released as. He started the game as a CB but he got his assist while playing in his natural left-back position.

Nico Schlotterbeck – CB – 82 → 85

1 Assist & Clean Sheet / 2-0 win against Werder Bremen / 7.7 WhoScored match rating

The German has had an incredible run of goals and assists lately. He has 3 goals and 4 assists in his last 12, so it is about time he was rewarded for his efforts.

Also, his OTW item would be upgraded from 86 → 88.

Jeremie Frimpong – RWB – 83 → 86

2 Assists / 3-1 win against Hoffenheim / 8.7 WhoScored match rating

The Dutch wing-back assisted twice for his side as they secured all three points. Frimpong is a FIFA fan favorite, so he would be a big hit amongst the player base.

Ellyes Skhiri – CDM – 84 → 87

2 Goals / 3-0 win against Eintracht Frankfurt / 9.1 WhoScored match rating

The Tunisian midfielder scored two goals for his side as they came out with all three points. Two goals from the center of the park make him a top contender for TOTW.

Joey Veerman – CM – 78 → 84

2 Assists / 6-0 win against FC Groningen / 10 WhoScored match rating

There are a lot of options to choose from in this game as a 6-0 win can’t go unnoticed. Veerman assisted two goals and was given a perfect match rating, although Xavi Simons could be included instead.

Sergio Canales – RM – 84 → 87

1 Goal & 1 Assist / 3-2 win against Almeria / 8.3 WhoScored match rating

While Rodri Sanchez also got a goal and assist, Canales would be a much more popular choice for the next TOTW. Also, it was Canales who assisted the winning goal.

James Maddison – CAM – 86 → 88

1 Goal & 1 Assist / 4-1 win against Tottenham Hotspur / 8.1 WhoScored match rating

Maddison continues to be Leicester City’s star man as his heroics led his team to a massive win over Spurs. His goal and assist brought his side further away from the drop zone.

Cristiano Ronaldo – ST – 90 → 91

4 Goals / 4-0 win against Al-Wehda / 9.7 SofaScore match rating

This is probably the most straightforward prediction ever. The 5 times Ballon d’Or winner scored four goals in a 4-0 win to kickstart his career in the Saudi League.

Wissam Ben Yedder – ST – 86 → 88

2 Goals & 1 Assist / 3-1 win against PSG / 9.5 WhoScored match rating

The Frenchman had a hand in every goal for his side as Monaco took down the league leaders with a 3-1 win. Would be a surprise if Ben Yedder doesn’t feature in TOTW 16.

Dušan Vlahović – ST – 86 → 88

2 Goals & 1 Assist / 3-0 win against Salernitana / 8.7 WhoScored match rating

The Serbian picked up three-goal contributions in Juventus’ mid-week fixture. He already had a World Cup Phenom SBC with this same overall, but his TOTW would allow those who didn’t complete it to try him out.

Bench

Sebastián Meza – GK – 65 → 79

8 Saves & Clean Sheet / 2-0 win against Colon / 9.0 SofaScore match rating

There aren’t a lot of options for goalkeepers this week, but Meza is certainly a standout. He made 8 saves and was the game’s Man-of-the-Match as Sarmiento secured all three points.

Davide Zappacosta – LWB – 79 → 84

1 Goal & Clean Sheet / 2-0 win against Lazio / 7.9 WhoScored match rating

The Italian fullback scored a fantastic top-corner goal in the first half. He then helped his side by keeping a clean sheet for the remainder of the game.

Marshall Munetsi – CDM – 74 → 83

1 Goal & 1 assist / 4-0 win against Troyes / 8.5 WhoScored match rating

The Stade Reims midfielder isn’t known for his goal-scoring or assists but he managed to do both this game. It wouldn’t come as a surprise if the Zimbabwean feature in the next TOTW squad.

Billal Brahimi – LM → LW – 70 → 81

2 Goals / 3-0 win against AC Ajaccio / 8.3 WhoScored match rating

The French winger came off the bench to score two goals as OGC Nice returned with the win.

Lee Jae Sung – CM → CAM – 76 → 83

2 Goals / 3-1 win against Augsburg / 8.8 WhoScored match rating

The Korean scored two goals as Mainz 05 came away with all three points. The midfielder is certainly in which a chance of TOTW 16.

Theo Bongonda – LW – 75 → 83

2 Assists / 2-0 win against Girona / 8.2 WhoScored match rating

The Congolese winger assisted the two goals in his side’s match. It was a big three points for Cadiz who are trying to avoid relegation.

Alexis Sánchez – CF → ST – 79 → 84

2 Goals / 2-0 win against Clermont Foot / 8.1 WhoScored match rating

The Chilean struck twice as Marseille won 2-0. He was always given the highest match rating out of every player.

Reserves

Fernando – ST – 72 → 82

2 Goals / 4-0 win against Austria Lustenau / 7.8 SofaScore match rating

The Brazilian scored two goals in four minutes in the second half to set Salzburg up for the win.

Nathan Tella – LM → RM – 67 → 80

3 Goals / 3-0 win against Preston / 9.9 WhoScored match rating

The on-loan Burnley winger has impressed this season and he further showcased his talent. The Englishman scored a hat-trick as Vincent Kompany’s side target the Championship title.

Dion Charles – ST – 66 → 79

3 Goals / 5-3 win against Peterborough / 8.7 WhoScored match rating

The Northern Irishman scored three goals in this eight-goal thriller. While not the most eye-catching TOTW, we find it hard to ignore a hat-trick.

Sven Mijnaans – RM → CAM – 67 → 80

2 Goals & 1 Assist / 5-0 win against Excelsior / 9.3 WhoScored match rating

The Dutchman recently transferred to AZ and it looks like he’s fitting in quite well. With three goal contributions in a 5-0 win, he is likely to be featured.

Benedict Hollerbach – RM → ST – 64 → 79

3 Goals / 3-2 win against SpVgg Bayreuth / N/A match rating

The German scored three goals as his side came out as 3-2 winners. With a hat-trick, it was hard to ignore him for TOTW 16.
