The 2023 Pokemon GO Harvest Festival event has added four new Field Research Tasks to complete – and you can earn a trio of great Pokemon by completing them.
The highlight of this year’s Harvest Festival event in Pokemon GO is the addition of Smoliv, and players will be able to encounter one through a specific Field Research Task. Plus, you can also earn encounters with Burmy and Pumpkaboo through these new Tasks too!
Spinning a Photo Disc at a PokeStop or Gym during the Pokemon GO 2023 Harvest Festival (from 10 AM local time on October 12 to 8 PM local time on October 17) could give you a limited-time event Field Research Task.
These are all of the exclusive Field Research Tasks in the Harvest Festival event:
Field Research Task | Reward
Catch 10 Grass‑type Pokemon | Burmy (Plant, Sandy, or Trash)
Catch 15 Pokemon | Pumpkaboo (Any Size)
Catch 30 Pokemon | Pumpkaboo (Any Size)
Use 5 Berries to help catch Pokemon | Smoliv |
If you are very lucky, you could encounter the shiny versions of Burmy or Pumpkaboo from your Field Research rewards.
However, as Smoliv has only just come to Pokemon GO, the shiny version of it is not yet available.

Fortunately, the new Field Research Tasks aren’t the only way to catch Smoliv in Pokemon GO. You can also find a wild Smoliv during the Harvest Festival event!
