The best ways to get Gold (or Galleons) in Hogwarts Legacy and earn a lot of money fast are:
Here’s a detailed breakdown of each one and how they work in-game:
Selling Items at Hogsmeade
Experienced Hogwarts Legacy players will know that making regular trips to Hogsmeade is essential when it comes to earning money.
All the Gear you’ve picked up throughout your adventure can be sold for cash at Gladrags Wizardwear, with legendary items going for around 200 Galleons apiece. Simply talk to the shopkeeper, and select the Sell tab to offload your clothing.
Thankfully, you don’t need to worry about losing the cosmetic item when selling it either. Thanks to this handy Hogwarts Legacy transmog feature, you’ll always be able to keep your favorite items to hand – even when you’re not actually wearing them!

You’ll gather items naturally and fill up your inventory as you go, but diving in the Black Lake is an easy source of Gear, if you don’t want to wait!
And if you solve all these Merlin Trials, you’ll be able to boost your inventory space and carry more with you.

Hunting Fantastic Beasts
For this next trick, you’ll need to have completed the mission ‘The Elf, The Nab-Sack, and The Loom‘ around halfway through the Hogwarts Legacy missions list.
At this point, you’ll be given a Nab-Sack, used for capturing Fantastic Beasts. After hunting creatures down in the game’s open world and using the Nab-Sack to snatch them up, you can head to the Brood & Peck shop in Hogsmeade to offload your Beasts.
Each animal will sell for 120 Gold, and spawns will reset every in-game day. Head to the Mooncalf den where you first learn to use your Nab-Sack and you’ll find 8 Mooncalfs every day.

Cast Leviosa on each one before using your Nab-Sack to capture them, and you’ll be selling a full den’s worth for a whopping 960 Galleons.
Of course, other easy-to-catch Beast Den, particularly Puffkein Dens, are also great places to farm creature captures.
Opening Eyeball Chests
In case you hadn’t noticed, Eyeball Chests (or Disillusionment Chests, if you prefer) are one of the best sources of income in Hogwarts Legacy.
Each one contains a whopping 500 Gold, allowing you to massively boost your wallet size, provided you know how to open them.

Here’s how to open Hogwart’s Legacy’s Eyeball Chests, in case you’re struggling to work it out.
