If you’re ready to get out of a sticky situation and earn bonus rewards, you’ll want to learn how to Exfil in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies.
Exfilling is a feature that first appeared in Treyarch’s last series entry: Black Ops Cold War. For the first time, the developer wanted to provide players with a way to successfully ‘win’ a game of Zombies, by escaping their fate instead of falling to the undead.
Since then, calling in an Exfil has become a staple of the Zombies franchise, and the mechanic makes a welcome return in Black Ops 6.
What Does Exfil Do?
When players reach an Exfil round (Round 11, and then every 5 subsequent rounds) an optional objective that resembles a radio will appear on their map.
Interacting with this Exfil point will call in an extraction chopper to help escort you and your Crew out of danger.
Exfilling will end the game, providing extra rewards such as XP and GobbleGums based on how high the round count was at the time of your Exfil.
In MW3 Zombies, Exfilling was the only way to extract key components for particular quest lines, or gain loot for use in future games. For now, we haven’t seen any similar extractable items in Black Ops 6.
How to Exfil
Starting at Round 11, a radio (walkie-talkie) icon will appear on your HUD, directing you to find it and interact with the actual device.
On Terminus, the Exfil radio is located in the spawn room, while Liberty Falls’ radio is situated on East Main Street.
This can only be done early in the round, so don’t miss your window! However, if you miss your chance, Exfil opportunities will return every 5 rounds.
Interacting with a radio will call Raptor One (Terminus) or another Exfil pilot to come and extract you from danger.
You’ll then have to make your way to the helicopter’s landing location, which is highlighted on your HUD. More undead will spawn around the chopper’s landing site, and you must keep the area clear from enemies as the helicopter arrives.
On the left side of your screen, you’ll see how many zombies need to be eliminated in the Exfil site for you to successfully extract. If you fail to clear the undead in the time provided, the Exfil chopper will get attacked by zombies, resulting in an instant game over!
Unlike in MW3 Zombies, you have to be sure you’ll manage to Exfil successfully – as being unable to clear out the undead will end the game for all players. There are no second chances this time around.
If you do manage to defeat the zombie hordes and clear the landing area, board the extraction vehicle without dying to successfully escape!
Easiest Way to Exfil
But if you need to Exfil in a pinch, one surefire way to get the job done is by using the Exit Strategy (Epic) GobbleGum.
When you take this GobbleGum into a game, it can be found in the GobbleGum machine and consumed at a time of your choosing.
Eating it will immediately activate an Exfil vote, allowing your Crew to choose whether or not you’re ready for extraction without being on a specific Exfil round.
What’s more, Exit Strategy will also reduce the number of zombie spawns during Exfil, making it easier to escape without getting downed.
