If you’re looking to get your hands on the fan-favorite Bug/Steel-Type Pokemon Scizor, here’s how to evolve Scyther in Scarlet & Violet!
Ever since Scizor made its debut in Gen 2, it’s been one of the coolest Pokemon of all time. Scyther was already a popular pick, but it needed a little boost to bring it into the big leagues.
With a red, metallic exoskeleton and a new Steel typing, Scizor was and still is a perfect Pokemon design. And fans will be happy to learn that it’s easy to get in your team in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet.
How to Evolve Scyther in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet
To evolve Scyther, trainers must get their hands on a Metal Coat and give it to the Bug-Type. Then, trade that Scyther holding the Metal Coat with a friend or another player online and it will evolve into a Scizor upon the trade’s completion.
Finally, get your friend to trade the Pokemon back and you’ve got a Scizor!

Can You Evolve Scyther and Get Scizor Without Trading?
No, despite Legends: Arceus introducing the Link Cable, Pokemon Scarlet & Violet once again removed the ability to evolve select Pokemon without trading.
That means you’ll need a friend with a second system and a copy of either Scarlet or Violet to trade with if you want to obtain a Scizor.
While you’re at it, don’t forget to catch and trade all version-exclusive Pokemon in Scarlet & Violet – assuming your friend bought the other version of the game.

It also receives no damage from Poison, and only a quarter of the normal damage from Grass-Type attacks.
