Can You Evolve Scyther and Get Scizor Without Trading?
No, despite Legends: Arceus introducing the Link Cable, Pokemon Scarlet & Violet once again removed the ability to evolve select Pokemon without trading.
That means you’ll need a friend with a second system and a copy of either Scarlet or Violet to trade with if you want to obtain a Scizor.
While you’re at it, don’t forget to catch and trade all version-exclusive Pokemon in Scarlet & Violet – assuming your friend bought the other version of the game.
Where to Find Scyther in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet
Scyther is a very common spawn in Paldea, particularly in the Northwest of the map. It can be found in the following areas:
- West Province (Area Two)
- Casseroya Lake
- Medali City’s Surrounding Area
- South Province (Area Four)
- North Province between Area One and Two, near the Fighting Crew Base

Can You Catch Scizor in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet?
No, there is no way to catch Scizor in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet – it must always be evolved from Scyther in order to be obtained. Unfortunately for single-player fans, Scizor will not spawn in the wild, anywhere in the Paldea region.
Can You Get Kleavor in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet?
No, Kleavor, the new evolution for Scyther first appearing in Legends: Arceus, is not available at all in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet yet. However, it will be possible to get Kleavor in Spring 2023 via a transfer from Pokemon Home when the service finally arrives.
Of course, you’ll need to have caught a Kleavor in Pokemon Legends: Arceus first, in order to bring it over to Scarlet/Violet.

Scizor Strengths & Weaknesses
As a Bug/Steel-Type, Scizor only has one fault, a 4x weakness to Fire.
However, its rare typing makes it only take half damage from Normal, Bug, Steel, Psychic, Ice, Dragon, and Fairy-Type moves.
It also receives no damage from Poison, and only a quarter of the normal damage from Grass-Type attacks.
