Here is everything that is coming in Season 5 of Black Ops Cold War & Warzone, including new weapons, maps, operators & more.
Recently, Cold War & Warzone got its brand-new season five trailer, debuting an intimidating new Japanese-themed operator and more. However, now fans know exactly what is coming to the game with the new reveal of the season 5 roadmap.
Whilst several maps have already leaked for season five, it appears there is even more to come. Furthermore, it looks like this season could even feature an insane new Warzone event to tease Call of Duty Vanguard rumored for later this year.
Interestingly, more details including the setting for Vanguard and major in-game experiences for Warzone were also revealed.
But first things first, here is everything you need to know about what is coming in Cold War & Warzone for Season 5.
Cold War & Warzone Season Five Weapons
With the launch of season 5, several new weapons will be making their way to both games. Firstly, for Warzone players, here is a list of the two new weapons available at launch:
- EM-2 AR
- Tec-9 SMG
Interestingly, both weapons will be available as part of the Season Five Battle Pass. The EM-2 will be available at Tier 15 and the TEC-9 later on at Tier 31.
Furthermore, later on in the season players will be able to get access to two more powerful weapons. Take a look below:
- Marshal Pistol
- Cane (Melee)
The Marshal Pistol will arrive later on during the mid-season, it is a secondary double-barrel pistol that fires 12-gauge shotgun shells. However, rather surprisingly Raven Software has divulged that this weapon will feature 1-shot kill potential, so it might be one to look out for.
You’ll be able to unlock the Marshall by completing the associated in-game challenge or picking up a blueprint in the Call of Duty store.
Similarly, the Cane is another melee weapon that will be joining the roster of club-like weapons. Although, if you want to get medieval on your enemies, here’s how to unlock the Mace weapon too.
Alongside a host of new weapons is a new set of accompanying operators. Now, joining the list of playable characters is Kitsune, Stryker, and Hudson.
Kitsune is described as a cybersecurity expert and world-class thief and made her debut in the Season 5 cinematic trailer earlier this week.
You can get access to Kitsune in Cold War & Warzone at Tier 0 of the Season 5 Battle Pass. However, if you make it all the way to Tier 100, you can unlock an additional ultra-rare Japanese-themed skin.
On another note, Kitsune herself may have actually revealed Call of Duty Vanguard after a new secret was discovered. Take a look for yourself.
Stryker is the latest NATO operator, donning a heavily armor-clad appearance and high-tech goggles he’s certainly one to look out for. Furthermore, he represents the “ultimate one-man army” and is the embodiment of cutting-edge US Special Forces response teams.
Therefore, if you’re looking to get access to the technologically kitted-out operator, you can access him as part of an upcoming Season Five Store Bundle.
Hudson will also arrive as a playable operator. Those Cold War fans who have played through the campaign may recall Hudson as a prominent character, albeit not the most reliable.
However, players who are interested in Hudson can access the operator as part of an upcoming Season Five Store Bundle later on during the season.
Multiplayer Game Modes
Perhaps the most exciting addition coming to Call of Duty is the all-new Double Agent mode. Infiltrating Season 5 is a Multiplayer party experience that features Double Agents tasked with sabotaging an important mission.
Be aware that Double Agent will require communication, investigation, and trickery to achieve results. Here is a full run-down of how the new mode will work:
- Double Agents – Eliminate everyone else or successfully set off explosive charges around the map.
- The Investigator – Use clues to target suspected Double Agents as Wanted criminals.
- Operatives – Work together to identify and eliminate any Double Agents before it is too late.
Each player starts with a pistol, however, players can grab weapons in different parts of the map. Bear in mind, each role gains access to unique skills and content during the round.
Double Agents have access to Gas Mines, Counter Spy Planes, Combat Bows, and Attack Helicopters. Additionally, they also have immunity from the radiation spreading from the bombs they’ve set.
On the other hand, Investigators get Trophy Systems, Stimshots, and Hand Cannons, and can see the footprints of an attacker when examining a player’s death location.
In Season 5 voice chat is strongly recommended, especially considering the game mode supports up to 10 players…
Additionally, in Season 5, Demolition will return and make a triumphant debut in the Black Ops Cold War. In this mode, two teams battle it out as attackers attempt to destroy a pair of active bombsites.
Defenders must try their best to prevent the detonations, by any means necessary.
Multiplayer Maps – Season Five
Season 5 will see a whole bunch of new multiplayer maps, including some much-needed 6v6 ones. Here is a list of all of the maps coming in the latest season:
This map is featured in the Season 5 Intro-cinematic and is a brand-new excursion featuring a recognizable control room and main dome. This map will be available to play straight away once season five launches.
Returning for the first time since Black Ops 2 is Slums. This map will feature a town square and central fountain, inviting long-range combat across lanes. Additionally, it will available at launch.
Showroom (2v2 and 3v3)
Built for Gunfight and Face-Off variants, Showroom will arrive at launch and is set in a cordoned off Stacks emporium located within an abandoned mall.
Later on in the season, Drive-In, a cult-classic and remastered map from the original Black Ops will arrive. Interestingly, Drive-In has been remastered to honor its 10th anniversary as part of the Black Ops Annihilation Map Pack.
Finally, but by no means least, is Zoo. A heavily rumored map many months ago is finally arriving later in the season. It will feature intense close-quarters combat and an unusual monorail vantage point.
New Scorestreak – Flamethrower
A brand-new Scorestreak has arrived with season five, and it’s a hot one, quite literally. The Flamethrower is a ranged incendiary device that is lost upon death. Although, we don’t expect your enemies will last long when you’re wielding a steady stream of flame.
New Warzone Perks – Combat Scout & Tempered
Warzone has received two all-new Perks in season 5. Although these are normally shared with Modern Warfare, for the first time Warzone is actually receiving its own exclusive Perks.
With this Perk, operators receive a burst of in-field intel, as damaging an enemy briefly highlights the foe in a bright orange and pings them for allies. An incredible Perk for squad-play and heavy communication, if you like to make a difference with your callouts as much as your weapons, this is the Perk for you.
This Perk is completely changing up the way Armor works in Warzone. Armor Plates become heavier and more reinforced and only two are needed for an Operator to be “fully armored”. To explain, Tempered grants a huge 75 points of damage for each Plate, rather than the standard 50.
However, you will only be able to wear two plates at a time and you also have the added problem of losing access to your Perk 2 slot.
Mobile Broadcast Station – Red Door Event
A new occurrence in Warzone, Mobile Broadcast Stations have been spotted out on the field. These devices can be placed in a variety of different locations around Verdansk. The locations differ from match-to-match however they also offer unusual rewards.
Additionally, the Call of Duty appears to be teasing something in the new Season 5 update. Check out what they had to say regarding the new Broadcast Station item:
NATO is aware of these recent Perseus efforts and has decided to [[REDACTED]]. Operators should look for [[REDACTED]] when it arrives on [[REDACTED]] within Verdansk, as a highly important [[REDACTED]].(Source: Call of Duty)
It’s clear there is something underway in the Warzone universe, and the Broadcasting Stations even appear to be affecting the Red Doors found around the map. Players should be wary of where the Red Doors might take them once Season 5 launches.
New Gulag – Rush
At the start of Season 5, players will be able to experience a new Gulag. Although, strictly speaking, this one won’t be all-new seeing as it comes from the classic Black Ops 2 map, Rush.
Considering players weren’t too happy with the most recent Gulag experience, it’s safe to say that Rush may be a huge upgrade.
Cold War Zombies – Perks, Field Upgrades, Support Weapon & More
For the Zombies fans out there, season five has introduced a whole bunch of undead damage-dealing goodies. First off, players have been treated to a brand-new and all-powerful perk:
Death Perception – Perk
Making a debut in Cold War, Death Perception, the ninth Zombies’ Perk grants any agent who drinks it the ability to “see” obscured enemies by giving them a bright outline. Additionally, the perk will have five additional upgradeable skill tiers granting more powerful effects.
Tesla Storm – Field Upgrade
A shocking new Field Upgrade allows you to harness the power of the Tempest. Upon activation, lighting will shoot out between you and your allies, stunning and damaging normal enemies. However, upgrading this ability means you can also electrify elites, and boost your movement speed.
Flamethrower – Support Weapon
Burn the undead to a crisp with the Flamethrower, the next Support Weapon to arrive in Black Ops Cold War Zombies.
Outbreak Mode – Collateral
Following on from the events in Berlin, in the Mauer Der Toten map, players will find themselves in the Algerian Desert for the next stage of the ever-expanding Outbreak Mode.
The huge new region features massive natural rock structures, de-orbited satellites, and even huge oil drills. Make sure you’re prepared to take on the challenging desert environment.
Outbreak Vehicle – Tank
In order to lend a huge helping hand, Call of Duty has introduced a new Outbreak vehicle, ready to deliver some destructive damage to the undead hordes. In season 5 players can take control of a Tank, complete with a mounted minigun and plenty of armor.
Whilst its only weakness is its speed, we imagine you’ll feel fairly safe from within the safety of your metal friend.
Grapple Gun – Crafting Item
Outbreak players can also zip around in style with the Grapple Gun. This will allow you to spend less time on foot and more time in the air. Need to escape from a tricky situation? The Grapple Gun will most definitely come in handy.
So, what do you think of the upcoming content in Season 5 of Cold War & Warzone? It’s clear that there’s a ton of significant changes that are being introduced in the new season.
However, it remains to be seen whether Activision will focus on perhaps its biggest problem at the moment, its hackers.
On the other end, some are giving up altogether; NICKMERCS recently rage quit Warzone after encountering a hacker in his first game.
However, Season 5 looks to be introducing some positive changes, so who knows, this could be the season to turn everything around.
If you’re wanting to see the full run-down of all of the new content directly from Call of Duty, you can do so right here.
