Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies players will need a lot of Essence in order to survive the hordes of undead – here’s how it works!
Longtime Zombies fans will already know almost everything about Essence, though many of them will know it as ‘Points.’
This in-game currency functions just like usual in Treyarch’s upcoming title, but it’s good to be aware of the few new changes coming in Black Ops 6.
What Is Essence?
Essence is the primary form of currency in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies.
It is also commonly referred to as ‘Points,’ which was the official name of the currency prior to Black Ops Cold War Zombies.
Ever since Treyarch’s last game, Points have been rebranded as Zombie Essence, though they function in a very similar manner.
How to Get Essence in Black Ops 6 Zombies
The two main ways to get Essence in Black Ops 6 Zombies are by dealing damage to enemies or picking up vials of Dark Aether Essence, which drop from tougher foes.
Players will earn points for dishing out damage, with more granted upon defeating an enemy.
The stronger the opponent, the more points you’ll get as a reward upon its demise.
But Essence won’t be your only reward for taking down hordes of undead. You’ll also be able to get your hands on Salvage, which is seeing some big changes in Black Ops 6.
How to Use Essence
Zombie Essence can be used in a variety of ways to help you stay one step ahead of the undead. This includes:
- Unlocking Doors or unblocking passages
- Accessing Objective-related devices
- Summoning a Tactical Rift to visit other islands
- Purchasing Perk-a-Colas
- Pack-a-Punching Weapons for increased potency
- Purchasing Ammo from Ammo Chaces
- Buying Armor or Weapons from a Wall Buy
- Rolling the Mystery Box
- Starting a Trial
- & More!
As such, you’ll want to make sure you have a healthy supply of Essence (or Points) on hand at all times.
Those who dish out the most damage will see most of the rewards, so be sure to contribute to the fight to keep your wallet healthy.
Speaking of teamwork, for the first time ever, players will be able to use Essence to pay half of the unlocking cost of any Door.
This will let you split the cost with a teammate rather than requiring one player to sacrifice a hefty chunk of their Essence reserves in order to progress.
You won’t need Essence to make use of the new GobbleGum system, however, so feel free to interact with the new Mr. Peeks-themed candy machine whenever you get the chance!
