Elden Ring’s open-world nature keeps you exploring, but where should you go after defeating Rennala?
Defeating Rennala won’t further the story, but it will open up many new areas for players to explore.
If you’re looking to continue your journey through The Lands Between, there are a couple of things you could do after Rennala.

Where To Go Once You’ve Beaten Rennala
After defeating Rennala, the Full Moon Queen, the best thing to do is to head to Atlus Plateau and continue your journey to become Elden Lord.
If you still want to explore the surrounding area, here is a list of a few things you will want to take care of:
- If you haven’t beaten Godrick the Grafted at Limgrave’s Stormveil Castle, it may be a good idea to head there. Or, you can defeat one of the other shardbearers. Earning two Great Runes in Elden Ring is required to access Leyndell, the Royal Capital.
- The other shardbearers are:
- Godrick the Grafted – Stormveil Castle
- Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy – Volcano Manor
- Starscourge Radahn – Radahn Festival – We’d recommend making Radahn a priority. Defeating Radahn earns access to Nokron, the Eternal City, and it’s here where you can find one of the best Spirit Ashes in the game, the Mimic Tear.
- The other shardbearers are:
- If you have defeated two shardbearers and want to continue the story, head over to the Leyndell, Royal Capital, and face against two required bosses. Godfrey, First Elden Lord, and Morgott, the Omen King.
- Head to northwest Liurnia of the Lakes and explore Caria Manor to speak with Ranni the Witch. This will initiate a quest that can unlock one of Elden Ring’s secret endings.
- Complete Sorceress Sellen’s quest. This will unlock some of the most powerful Intelligence Sorceries and armor in Elden Ring. This will prove useful for traversing Atlus Plateau.
While Rennala isn’t technically one of Elden Ring’s mandatory bosses, she’s certainly a good one to defeat. Beating her unlocks the ability to re-spec your Elden Ring build.
