New Elden Ring Story, Lore Details – July 2021

As with any Souls game, Elden Ring has a complex story and detailed lore to explore. Here’s what we know about the world prior to launch:

Elden Ring takes place in the Lands Between, a world ruled by Queen Marika the Eternal. Here, the Elden Ring itself, source of the Erdtree, has been shattered.

Marika’s own offspring, a series of Demigods, each claimed shards of the Elden Ring for themselves. These shards are known as the Great Runes, and their strength led to a war known as The Shattering.

Elden Ring Gameplay Details

Those familiar with past FromSoftware titles might think they know what to expect with Elden Ring. But it looks like this installment will be introducing a few new features for the franchise.

As we saw in the incredible Elden Ring Summer Game Fest trailer, mounts will be a part of the open-world experience. Players can travel to grassy plains, suffocating swamps, spiraling mountains, foreboding castles, and more, on foot or horseback.

FromSoftware promises to deliver a scale “never seen before” in its upcoming title. And when it comes to combat, players can define their playstyle with RPG elements.

The environment, weather, and even the time of day will aid you if you’re clever enough to use it. And of course, there’s a brutal art of combat to study, with well-timed dodges and parries being crucial to your survival.

When it comes to other residents of the Lands Between, these inhabitants may have answers for you, if you can provide aid. And when facing the Demigods, you can choose between craving power or seeking understanding.

“Ultimately, your journey will be defined by the strength of your own ambition. The greater your goals, the greater the challenge will be. Should you choose to claim the Lands Between as your birthright then yes, you must fight.

And yes, you may die. But you will return to fight again. For that is how a champion – or a Lord – is born.”
