While there is currently no official release or pre-order date for Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, there are some clues as to when it could come.
Going by past FromSoftware DLC launch windows, there’s good reason to believe Shadow of the Erdtree could release in October/November 2023.
Taking this into account, it is very likely we could see a June 2023 Summer Fest / E3 release date announcement and the opening of pre-orders right after.

The last FromSoftware title to receive DLC was Dark Souls 3. The announcement trailer was revealed on August 24, 2016, and the DLC was released on October 25, 2016.
Unfortunately, this doesn’t mean Elden Ring will follow the exact release pattern. It’s currently been 12 months since Elden Ring was released.
Elden Ring is FromSoftware’s first open-world project, and due to the complexity of an open-world style game, development could also be challenging.
So it would make sense for developers to take longer to carry out FromSoftware’s vision and execute it.
With Elden Ring, we’ve only received an image teasing Shadow of the Erdtree. This means that development is likely taking longer than in past games.
But the timing of the teaser image is interesting since it gives FromSoftware enough time to ready an announcement trailer for either of the large summer gaming conventions, E3 or Summer Fest.

We’ll likely see the first Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC teaser release in one of this summer’s gaming conventions, E3 or Summer Fest, in June 2023.
Elden Ring itself was announced during the Xbox Games Conference of E3 2019. It wouldn’t be a surprise if FromSoftware announced the Shadow of Erdtree during the same event three years later.
Despite only showing an image, FromSoftware already has players voicing their wishlists for the upcoming Shadow of Erdtree DLC.
Elden Ring Shadow of Erdtree Pre-Order Date Estimate
If Bandai Namco appears at E3 or Summer Fest 2023, we’ll likely see the Elden Ring Shadow of Erdtree announcement trailer. This means pre-orders could go live between June 13-16, 2023.
Pre-orders for Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC will likely open after they announce the release date, which we expect to be sometime in Summer 2023.
