Elden Ring’s FPS can be better on PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles with the right settings in place!
FromSoftware’s newest endeavor in dark fantasy is finally out! For the first time, the studio went for an open-world game.
Considering the nature of the Soulslike genre, an open-world was an ambitious goal to achieve.
Fortunately, Elden Ring has delivered exactly that, an ominous open interconnected world that checks all the boxes for Soulslike fans.
This hard-to-achieve standard has already accounted Elden Ring for an overwhelmingly positive reception.
Nevertheless, Elden Ring’s ambitious world has demonstrated to have some rough edges. Even current-gen hardware struggle to sustain a steady frame rate.
PS5 and Xbox Series X users can mitigate these Elden Ring performance problems with the right settings!

Elden Ring’s frame rate performance is not as stable as many gamers would want, but PS5 and Xbox Series X have some useful settings to minimize these issues.

Xbox Series X Best FPS Performance Elden Ring Settings
The only way available at the moment to mitigate Elden Ring’s FPS drops on Xbox Series X is activating VRR (Variable Refresh Rate).
Despite the impressive round of reviews Elden Ring received from critics, the game does suffer from FPS drops on Xbox consoles.
At the moment, Xbox Series X does not offer a solution similar to the one offered for PS5.
Sadly, you will also need a compatible monitor or TV that supports this technology.
If you have the right monitor or TV*, here is how you can turn on the VRR setting on your Xbox Series X:
- Go to Settings on your Xbox Series X
- Under Advanced, select the Video modes option
- Make sure “Allow variable refresh rate” is checked
*If you want to verify if your monitor or TV support VRR, reach out to the manufacturer or look for specs of your specific model.
