If you want to enjoy Elden Ring as if it came out for the original Game Boy, look no further than this fan-made demake!
Elden Ring is quite possibly the best release of 2022 so far, but what if the game actually launched in 1993? That’s a question that game developer Shin intends to answer.
In the new ‘demake’ of Elden Ring, players can experience the iconic game in a classic Game Boy format. The game runs on real retro hardware, and it’s also playable with emulators or even in your browser!

Right now, most people are finishing up with their adventure in the Lands Between, but modders are giving the title new life.

Elden Ring Demake Ports FromSoftware’s RPG to Game Boy
A new Elden Ring demake brings the Lands Between to an 8-bit setting, with some iconic locations to explore.
The demake, which is playable now, allows players to explore all of the Precipice of Anticipation, Northern Limgrace, and Stormveil Castle, though not how you might remember them.
You can even face off against Margit the Fell Omen and Godrick the Grafted in your quest to become Elden Lord.
Recently, the actual Elden Ring creator Hidetaka Miyazaki revealed his favorite boss fights, with some interesting encounters making the cut.
So far, the Game Boy version of Elden Ring only contains Limgrave, and it doesn’t sound like it’ll be expanding any further just yet.
“I need to find an actual job instead of working on this game,” developer Shin writes. “I would like to expand the game in the future, but no promises.”
