As you change your equipment quite frequently in Diablo 4, it’s important to know how to Unsocket any slotted Gems so that you can put them to better use somewhere else.

How to Unsocket Gems in Diablo 4
The easiest way to unsocket gems in Diablo 4 is by visiting a Jeweler in any town and using the “Directly in Inventory” option in the Unsocket tab for a gold fee.
You can also unsocket gems from a piece of gear by salvaging it at the Blacksmith via the “Directly in Inventory” option in the Salvage tab. This doesn’t require a gold fee but destroys the piece of gear.
Unsocket Gems With the Jeweler in Diablo 4
- Head to a Jeweler, they appear on the town’s map as a jewel icon
- Go to the ‘Unsocket’ tab

- Select the ‘Directly in Inventory’ icon
- Select the piece of gear you would like to unsocket a Gem from, here you will see the Unsocket Cost gold fee you will need to pay to complete the process

- Confirm you want to unsocket the gem and pay the fee in gold

Unsocketing Gems from the Jeweler costs a fee of gold but will leave your weapon, armor, or jewelry piece intact.
Unsocket Gems With the Blacksmith in Diablo 4
- Head to the Blacksmith, these are represented by an anvil and hammer icon in town maps
- Go to the ‘Salvage’ tab
- Select the ‘Directly in Inventory’ icon

- Select the piece of gear in your inventory that has the Gem you would like to remove

- Confirming you want to salvage this piece of gear will destroy the item but will leave the gem in your inventory

It’s important to note that using the ‘All Junk’ salvage method will automatically ignore any items with Gems socketed in them. You must manually select the socketed gear using the above method to unsocket the Gem.
Salvaging gear at the Blacksmith will destroy the gear piece, but costs nothing, and nets you some upgrade materials in the process.
