Blizzard has shown off some new features and mechanics in Diablo 4’s Season 1 gameplay trailer.
This is the first time fans get to see the new Season in action. It includes a short tease of some exciting gameplay features and an all-new boss.
Everything in the Diablo 4 Season 1 Gameplay Trailer:
The Season of the Malignant gameplay trailer showed off various new features, such as Corrupted enemies, Malignant Hearts, and an entirely new boss battle.
The trailer begins with an ominous voice describing to a “new festering curse” that “spreads its corruption across the land”. This is alluding to the Malignance – an evil force that is corrupting the inhabitants of Sanctuary.
Though short, the Season 1 gameplay trailer offered players a glimpse at what to expect when Diablo 4’s Season of the Malignant rolls around on July 20.

Malignant Monsters & Corrupted Enemies
In the trailer, you can see the new Malignant Monster enemy types coming to Diablo 4 in Season 1. You can find them in Malignant tunnels and can defeat them to get Malignant Hearts.
The beginning of the trailer shows a Partly Corrupted enemy being transformed into a Fully Corrupted enemy after performing a ritual with the Cage of Binding.

Defeating this Fully Corrupted enemy will reward you with a Malignant Heart.
Malignant Hearts
Malignant Hearts are new Seasonal items that you socket into gear (similar to Gems). They add a significant amount of power to your character.

There are over 30 Malignant Hearts available in Season 1, each with its own potent Malignant Power.
Malignant Powers
You can see an example of a Malignant Power in action in the trailer, as an enemy is dispatched with explosive ease:

New Boss Battle – Varshun the Consumed
Finally, players get to see their first look at the new boss bottle that will come along with Season 1. Take a look at Varshun the Consumed here:

Varshun the Consumed is a devilish levitating monster with devastating AOE attacks and disgusting tendrils that will grab hold of you if you’re not careful.
