The Ring of the Sacrilegious Soul is one of the new Malignant Rings introduced in patch 1.2.2 for Season 2.
The Unique Ring brings back one of the best Malignant Powers from Season 1 that was exclusive to the Necromancer.
Below we’re going to go over exactly what this powerful Malignant Ring does and the best way of getting it.

How to Get
To best way to get the Ring of the Sacrilegious Soul in Diablo 4 is to defeat the Echo of Varshan in either World Tier 3 or World Tier 4, and hope that it drops after defeating him.
This is because the Echo of Varshan is the only endgame boss that has it on his loot table. This means that defeating it is the best way to increase your chances of seeing it drop compared to other methods.
As a Unique item, you can also acquire the Ring of the Sacrilegious Soul as loot in Diablo 4 by:
- Opening chests
- Defeating enemies
- Completing Nightmare Dungeons
However, you can only use any of the methods mentioned above in World Tiers 3 and 4.
You can also get and use the Ring of the Sacrilegious Soul in both the Seasonal and Eternal Realm.

How to Get from the Echo of Varshan
To get the Ring of the Sacrilegious Soul from the Echo of Varshan in Diablo 4, you must summon and defeat him at the Malignant Burrow dungeon next to the Tree of Whispers.
After defeating him, the Ring of the Sacrilegious Soul has a chance to drop as loot.
To summon the Echo of Varshan, you need to do the following:
- Gather Malignant Body Parts
- You will need:
- 1 Blackened Femur
- 1 Trembling Hand
- 1 Gurgling Head
- 1 Malignant Heart (World Tier 4 only)
- You can gather body parts from the Grotesque Debtor from Whispers of the Dead quests – Malignant Body Parts will drop randomly
- You can also obtain Malignant Body Parts by opening Tree of Whispers cache rewards – this guarantees a drop of one or more of these parts
- You will need:
- Once you’ve acquired the body parts, interact with the Malignant Altar in the Malignant Burrow dungeon to summon Varshan in World Tier 3
- For World Tier 4, you need to have a Malignant Heart as well as do all of the above

How to Get As Loot
To get the Ring of the Sacrilegious Soul to drop as loot, you must be in either World Tier 3 or World Tier 4 difficulty. Once in that World Tier, the ring might be found as a drop by:
- Opening chests
- Defeating enemies
- Completing Nightmare Dungeons
Getting access to World Tier 3 (Nightmare) will require you to complete the campaign and the Capstone Dungeon at the Cathedral of Light.
To unlock World Tier 4 (Torment), you’ll need to complete the Fallen Temple Capstone Dungeon in the Dry Steppes region.
Playing in higher World Tiers will increase your chances of higher-tier loot dropping. As it’s random, there’s no accurate way to determine how long it will take as it’s based on RNG.
Thankfully, you are not required to be in the Seasonal Realm to get the Ring of the Sacrilegious Soul – you can also get it in the Eternal Realm.
To acquire the Ring of the Sacrilegious Soul you must play through the game and hope they drop, much like all other loot in Diablo 4.

How to Increase Your Odds
Here are a few ways you can increase your chances of seeing the Ring of the Sacrilegious Soul drop as loot in Diablo 4:
- Playing on higher World Tiers
- Open Helltide Mystery Chests (specifically Tortured Gifts of Mystery and Living Steel Chests)
- Defeating World Bosses
- Complete Nightmare Dungeons (the higher the tier, the higher the chance of receiving greater rewards)
- Defeating Elite enemies
- Opening reward chests

In Season 1, The Sacrilegious was a best-in-slot Malignant Heart for Necromancers as it caused an equipped Corpse skill to be activated when walking near a Corpse on the battlefield.
The Ring of the Sacrilegious Soul is similar in that it activates Corpse Explosion and Corpse Tendrils when walking past Corpses, as well as Raise Skeleton which spawns a Skeleton to fight for you. It’s a brilliant item that will see you mow through the battlefield with ease.
Corpse Explosion and Raise Skeleton will cause huge amounts of damage to any in your path, while Corpse Tendrils will pull in any remaining stragglers for you to finish off.
