Forgotten Souls resource description

What Are Forgotten Souls in Diablo 4?

Forgotten Souls are rare crafting materials needed for you to upgrade Legendary, Sacred, and Ancestral gear to max level. They are also used to Enchant items to re-roll their affixes.

Leveling your gear becomes increasingly more important as you reach the endgame and find high-level gear and equipment.

They are used to level your gear to the max rank of 5 at the Blacksmith. This is crucial for increasing the Item Power of your weapons and armor.

Forgotten Souls are also essential for Enchanting items at the Occultist. It re-rolls individual affixes on individual gear pieces and is essential for fine-tuning your build.

How to Farm Forgotten Souls in Diablo 4

The best way to farm Forgotten Souls is to collect Aberrant Cinders to open Tortured Gifts of Mysteries. Defeating Helltide Harbingers and breaking Screaming Hell Veins will give you a decent amount of Aberrant Cinders, as well as some Forgotten Souls.

The only way to get Forgotten Souls is by taking part in Diablo 4’s time-limited Helltide Events.

There are three main ways to obtain Forgotten Souls during a Helltide:

  1. Opening Tortured Gift chests (in particular, Tortured Gifts of Mysteries)
  2. Defeating Helltide Harbinger elite enemies
  3. Breaking Screaming Hell Vein ore nodes

How to Get Forgotten Souls from Tortured Gifts of Mysteries

To get Forgotten Souls from Tortured Gifts of Mysteries chests you must first locate them at these specific locations in the Helltide Zone. Tortured Gifts chests and Tortured Gifts of Mysteries chests require a certain amount of Aberrant Cinders to open.

Firstly, make sure you are in at least World Tier 3 (Nightmare) difficulty for Helltide events to appear.

Next, focus on opening Tortured Gifts of Mysteries rather than the standard Tortured Gift chests, as these have better drop rates and award a greater number of Forgotten Souls.
