Dataminers with access to a Technical Alpha build of Diablo 4 have managed to uncover a possible brand-new expansion, playable class, a new region, and the potential name for Season 3.

It seems that Diablo fans have a lot to be excited about if any of these leaks hold true.

Diablo 4 Leak: New Expansion Information Found By Dataminers

Dataminers have leaked information regarding a new expansion, class, region, and more after gaining access to a Technical Alpha version 2.0 build of Diablo 4.

As revealed on ResetEra forums, the following will be allegedly coming to Diablo 4’s first major expansion:

  • The expansion’s name will be Lord of Hatred – it will focus on Prime Evil Mephisto
  • It will take place in a new region called Kurast – this is a region from Diablo 2
  • There will be a new class – Spiritborn
    • The leaked file mentions “nature”, “wings”, and “soaring”
  • There will be an all-new Mercenary system
    • This will come with its own talent tree and equipment system
    • It may also introduce recruitable followers
  • Introduction of Raids
  • Introduction of Runestones mechanic/resource

Russian YouTuber YbuBaKa reported on the above in detail (video in Russian):

The first expansion for Diablo 4 is supposedly called Lord of Hatred. It’ll focus on the Prime Evil Mephisto, the father of Lillith, as the main antagonist.

This seems to support Diablo General Manager Rod Fergusson’s recent comments about the Diablo team focussing on putting out “annual expansions” for the game in an interview with Dexerto:

But, you know, it’s years and years. That’s the thing we’re focused on. When you look at the launch of the game and this first season, we see that as building a foundation on which we can build for the future. So, as we look at our quarterly seasons, and we look at our annual expansions, those are the things that we’re really focused on for our live service.

A new class, the Spiritborn, was also revealed in the leak. As the name suggests, the class will focus on nature abilities, with the possible use of Glaives as their main weapon type.

Longtime Diablo fans should also be happy to hear that the expansion may take place in Kurast, a region that was first introduced to the series all the way back in Diablo 2.

The above datamined info gives some credibility to previous leaks on Diablo 4’s first major expansion from MMO Champion. They both reference the Spiritborn class and Kurast region.

It’s currently unclear whether or not any of these leaks will come to pass – hopefully, Blizzard will reveal more in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, fans are responding much more positively to the release of Season 2. With a new expansion on the horizon, one thing’s for sure – it’s a great time to be a Diablo fan!
