Cyberpunk 2007 is very gently trolling players who try to play the game early through a good-natured Easter egg, encouraging them to be patient.
The wait for Cyberpunk 2077 has been an arduous one; there’s no getting away from it. Developer CD Projekt Red essentially became a victim of their own success after the stellar Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
Not to mention the impressive trailers and footage they’ve shown us of Cyberpunk. The game looks set to be a masterpiece, so we understand can why gamers can’t wait to get their hands on it.
Neither can we. So, every delay that’s befallen the game is indeed frustrating; we feel it too! But here’s the thing, the gaming industry has a real problem at the moment with unfinished games releasing before they’re ready.
Overhype can be a problem too. These two issues, when coupled together, can lead to the internet becoming a very nasty place. Remember No Man’s Sky?
Cyberpunk 2077 Delays
Therefore, we commend any studio that decides to delay a game to ensure it’s the one they promised. We should never attempt to rush art.
Games are created by human beings - who are flawed and sometimes wrong, like the rest of us. Therefore, they can’t always reach particular deadlines. It sucks, but that’s how the world works.
It’s simply better to delay a game and be honest about it, then to release it in an unfinished state – nobody wants a repeat of Assassin’s Creed Unity, do they?
Progress doesn’t always happen as quickly as we’d like – and good things come to those who wait. Also, videogame developers are not our servants; they owe us nothing. Check your entitlement before complaining after a game is delayed.
With that in mind, CD Projekt Red has created a playful tease to encourage fans to be patient – and to stoke a bit of hype ready for the 10th of December when Cyberpunk 2077 releases.
The game is now ready for pre-load, meaning it can be downloaded and ready for launch day. Fans who click on the software and select ‘Play’ will be treated to something we felt was rather funny:
Keanu Reeves has spoken. Now do what he says and go back to sleep Samurai. The 10th of December is only three sleeps away. You can do it.
Those of you who are keen to play the Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer will need to wait longer however, as this is going to release as a standalone product.
Here’s where Cyberpunk 2077 is releasing early if you still need a copy…
