The wait for Cyberpunk 2077 is almost over, and soon gamers will have their hands on a fresh RPG experience unlike any other. But are you aware of how Cyberpunk 2077's brand new progression will work?
It's only to be expected that players will want to excitedly plan out how to play the game before it launches on December 10th.
I'm sure a lot of players have been drawing up spreadsheets, jotting down notes, and planning out the most optimal route for their character to take.
Well, we've done some of the work for you and compiled some research on how Cyberpunk 2077's progression system will work.
This is the latest up to date information on what kind of direction you can choose for your character.
Cyberpunk 2077: Skills And Perks
CD Projekt has already showcased the wealth of variation available to the player in Cyberpunk 2077. There is a multitude of different paths that your character can choose to explore.
The in-game progressions systems offer the player a chance to discover what playstyle works for them. We will start with the five basic stats in Cyberpunk 2077.
The five main stats in Cyberpunk 2077 consist of Body, Reflex, Intelligence, Technical Ability, and most importantly, 'Cool'. It's worth mentioning 'Cool' works a lot like the Luck stat in most traditional RPG games, increasing critical damage and other factors such as stealth.
Every level-up rewards the player with one Attribute point. These attribute points can be spent increasing the base stats, which in turn open up more perks and directions for your character to take.
It's worth noting Cyberpunk 2077's progression system works in a similar vein to Skyrim. Completing stealthy actions in turn will reward the player with experience in that particular talent.
However, something to be aware of is that these talents are gated behind the corresponding stat. If you have a reflex skill of five, for example, your handgun skill will never exceed five. It's important then to boost your stats depending on your corresponding playstyle.
The player can choose to specialize in specific weapons, such as handguns, blades, or rifles. You might also want to want to be a super powerful hulk-Esque monstrosity, or perhaps you might prefer a stealthy and quiet approach?
Cyberpunk 2077: Street Cred Progression
Another important element in Cyberpunk 2077 is the "Street Cred" system. This works as a running total of how popular you are within Night City. By completely missions and quests the player will increase their Street Cred rank.
By increasing this stat, vendors may be more inclined to give your character a reduction in price or offer exclusive items and more varied stock.
One item you will want to be aware of is something called 'Cyberware' which functions like armor and equipment in most RPG systems.
This is the most exciting part of Cyberpunk 2077's progression system as different Cyberware will offer the player different unique abilities, which can be swapped out as you play.
Some Cyberware might grant the ability to double jump for example or grant a regenerative effect on kill. Others can have more subtle or varied effects for min-maxing your character effectively. Cyberware is something that will become more apparent the further you progress in Cyberpunk 2077.
What Kind Of Cyberpunk Will You Be?
Hopefully, this guide will have given you a better understanding of how Cyberpunk 2077's progression system works.
But you still have other important decisions to make ready for the launch on December 10th. First of all, do you know what kind of life path is best for your character? Will you be a rough and ready Street Kid? Perhaps a business-minded Corpo? Or maybe the Desert-dwelling Nomad?
