After releasing a game that many gamers deem unfinished, CD Projekt Red issues an apology, offering refunds for Cyberpunk 2077.
Cyberpunk 2077 was an ambitious title, and it appears that CD Projekt may have rushed to the finish line after years of production. Despite beautiful graphics, incredible characters, and an in-depth open world, Cyberpunk 2077 is unplayable on PS4 and Xbox One.
Even those on high-end custom machines need to know Cyberpunk 2077's best PC settings before the game is even slightly stable. Now, CD Projekt is taking the time to apologize to the fans and offer those who want it a guaranteed refund.
Cyberpunk 2077's Developer Apologizes for PS4 and Xbox One Issues
On their game's official Twitter page, a new post by CD Projekt starts by apologizing for not showing off the state of Cyberpunk 2077 on base last-gen consoles before launch. Despite the developer infamously stating that Cyberpunk 2077 runs "surprisingly well" on PS4 and Xbox One, this turned out to be quite inaccurate.
Of course, the team behind Cyberpunk 2077 is working hard to eliminate bugs and crashes too. Reportedly, the next Cyberpunk 2077 fix patch is coming "within the next 7 days."
After that, the developer promises that frequent updates will be dropping as and when they're ready. In early 2021, there will be two major Cyberpunk 2077 patches to look forward to.
With January and February release dates, these two patches target the most prominent problems gamers are facing on last-gen consoles. It's quite the wait for a fixed game, but the developer promises console players a closer experience to that of a high-end PC player.
It seems that Cyberpunk 2077 should probably have been delayed until early 2021 itself. However, we're sure the gaming community would have lost their minds, should CD Projekt have announced yet another delay.
How to Get an Easy Cyberpunk 2077 Refund
To finish off its announcement, CD Projekt promises easy returns for all gamers who want to refund Cyberpunk 2077. Xbox and PlayStation will now offer refunds for Cyberpunk 2077 purchases for those setting the game aside until it's fixed.
If you're trying to return a physical copy of Cyberpunk 2077, the developer suggests contacting your chosen retailer. If that proves unsuccessful, gamers can contact [email protected] for some additional assistance.
PC gamers will be getting regular updates and fixes, too, the developer claims in a P.S. message. But there are no details about how to claim a PC refund.
Of course, high-end PCs are having the least amount of issues with Cyberpunk 2077. However, if you purchase a game through GOG, CD Projekt's own platform, refunds are possible within 30 days of buying.
We wonder how this recent apology will affect CD Projekt's falling stock prices. Despite pressure from shareholders likely being part of the reason why the game released in a broken state, it appears those same shareholders aren't happy with the results any more than its players are.
We imagine the free Cyberpunk 2077 next-gen upgrade will help gamers make the most of their Night City experience. However, this upgrade is probably experiencing a lengthy delay while CD Projekt resolves the game's issues.
