It seems that there's another new weapon coming to Black Ops Cold War, as a new leak confirms the Crossbow is returning.
When it comes to iconic weapons in the Call of Duty franchise, few are as beloved as the Crossbow.
The Crossbow made its main series debut in Call of Duty: Black Ops and it's been a favorite ever since. We've seen both standard Crossbow bolts, and explosive projectiles used, but the weapon tends to be a powerful one-hit kill regardless of ammo.
What's more, the Crossbow is silent by default, making it a perfect weapon of choice for stealthy players. However, as a trade-off, the powerful Secondary weapon usually only fires a single shot before needing to reload.
If you want to see just how effective the weapon can be, this Warzone player wipes an entire enemy squad with the Crossbow.
Crossbow Leaks for Black Ops Cold War
Although the Crossbow is already present in Warzone, thanks to Modern Warfare, a new leak suggests that Black Ops Cold War will also be getting a version of the weapon.
In the recent update that brought Firebase Z to Black Ops Cold War Zombies, Treyarch made some changes to the game's files. And after some careful datamining, one Twitter user found all of Cold War Season 2's new weapons.
The user also found evidence that Samantha Maxis will be the next Operator in Cold War and Warzone.
Now, TailsDoll711 is confirming that the Crossbow will be another new addition to Black Ops Cold War in the future. It appears that there's a Blueprint coming to the Store that confirms a Cold War variant of the Crossbow.
The upcoming Crossbow bundle is named: Archaic Range. Its description is as follows:
"Introducing the first legendary blueprint for the Cold War Crossbow. Pull some strings with the Archaic Range Bundle."
It'll be interesting to see how this Crossbow differs from the one we already have in Warzone. We'd imagine that it might lack the explosive nature of Modern Warfare's Crossbow.
However, if the new Crossbow is also a one-hit kill in Warzone, the lack of explosive tip might make it yet another overpowered Cold War weapon.
It might also be the weapon of choice for players in the terrible new Black Ops Cold War League Play. That is, if players haven't abandoned the mode completely by the Crossbow's release.
But right now, players are more interested in the new Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer Remaster leak. If classic Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer truly does return, we don't think that Cold War will continue to be the dominant Call of Duty title any longer.
After all, Modern Warfare fans are angry at Cold War as it is.
