The Jet Gun makes a welcome return in Black Ops 6 Zombies – here’s how to get your hands on the Thrustodyne Model 23!
After 12 long years of waiting, Black Ops 2’s iconic Jet Gun returns in our new Liberty Falls map, allowing players to wield the power of a jet turbine once again.
This Wonder Weapon, which made its debut in TranZit, has seen quite the upgrade since the last time we saw it. Here’s how to find the Jet Gun in Black Ops 6:
How to Get the Jet Gun in Liberty Falls
There are three methods to get the Jet Gun (AKA the Thrustodyne Model 23) in the Black Ops 6 Zombies map, Liberty Falls:
1. Mystery Box
As expected, you can get the Jet Gun as a random drop in the Liberty Fall Mystery Box.
The Mystery Box can be found at a random spawn point around the map, identified by a pillar of blue light above its location. The odds of getting a Wonder Weapon from the box will increase the higher your round count is.
Alternatively, you can guarantee a Wonder Weapon pull from the Mystery Box by using the Wonderbar! GobbleGum.
However, since the Ray Gun and the Wunderwaffe DG-2 are also present on the map, you only have a one-in-three chance of pulling the Jet Gun with this trick.
2. Crafting the Jet Gun
To craft the Jet Gun, you’ll need to acquire three parts and assemble them inside the Motor Lodge in Liberty Falls:
Water Pressure Gauge
In order to get the Water Pressure Gauge, you must first head to the Florist (Coordinates: E4).
Once there, interact with the tap outside the shop to remove the valve from the top (there is no indication that the item can be removed, simply hold Square/X/F to do so).
Next, head to Fuller’s Liberty Lanes (Coordinates: F6) where you’ll see a yellow panel on the wall to the right of the bowling lanes. Shoot the panel to remove its front cover.
Then, the player with the valve needs to stand near the panel and hold the interact button to crank up the water pressure.
This takes quite some time, and you’ll be completely defenseless against the undead while interacting with the gauge.
You can stop interacting with it for a few seconds if you need to fend off enemies, but doing so will cause the pressure to drop steadily.
If you don’t have a crew to defend you, your best hope is Decoy Grenades or Cymbal Monkeys, or starting the process the moment a round ends before zombies start spawning – and even then the timing will be tight!
Once the process is complete, a Water Pressure Gauge will drop, which is the first part we need to build the Jet Gun!
Handbrake
Next up, we need to find the Groundskeeper, a special zombie who spawns occasionally in the Cemetery by the Church.
Right now, we can’t be sure what causes the Groundskeeper to spawn, and it may well be random. Players have reported him showing up on different rounds, whether they were searching for him or not.
For us, he turned up midway through Round 10, separate from the rest of the undead army that was chasing us.
Defeat the Groundskeeper (who is no stronger than a regular zombie) and he’ll drop his Toolshed Key.
Then you can open the Toolshed located in the Groundskeeper’s Yard (Coordinates: D4), just outside the Cemetery.
Inside, you’ll find the Handbrake, the second part you need to craft the Jet Gun in Liberty Falls.
Electrical Wires
Finally, we’re going to need the help of a Mangler.
There are several ways to go about this, such as using Salvage at a Crafting Table to build a Mangler Cannon (Requires Player Level 20), finding a Mangler Injector that sometimes drop from boss enemies, or completing SAM Trials to get either item.
Alternatively, you can simply wait for an actual Mangler to spawn and get it to shoot in the direction of the door, which is what we did.
However you do it, you’ll need to get a Mangler Cannon to shoot the gated door into Radio House in Riverside (Coordinates: H3).
This will open up the shop for you, and inside you’ll find piles of clutter on the floor that you can hold interact (Square/X/F) to clear.
Some piles of rubbish will contain Salvage, but one of the piles will instead drop the Electrical Wires.
Once you have all three parts, head back to the Motor Lodge which is located in your spawn area. Head to the second floor of the motel and a small horde of zombies will burst out of a nearby room.
Defeat them and head inside to interact with the crafting table and assemble your Wonder Weapon!
3. SAM Trials
Reportedly, SAM Trials also have a chance to drop the Thrustodyne Model 23, provided you’re able to nab a Legendary rating.
Every few rounds, players receive a notification that a new SAM Trial has spawned somewhere around the map. Finding and activating this trial will result in you being tasked to eliminate zombies in a particular way.
Accomplish your task within the time limit to receive a Legendary loot crate, which can contain a Wonder Weapon if you’re lucky. However, the Jet Gun has a low drop rate, so don’t get your hopes up.
How to Use the Jet Gun
The Jet Gun has two methods of fire that can help you tear through enemy hordes in seconds:
Primary Fire: The Jet Gun turbine spins up and pulls in nearby enemies, instantly obliterating weaker zombies while stunning and shredding more powerful foes.
Secondary Fire: Choosing to purposefully overheat the weapon fires out a huge pulse that pulverizes any regular enemies directly in front of the blast. Even boss zombies will feel the impact of this Area of Effect attack, and they’ll be stunned if they even survive. However, your weapon will now require cooling down.
New Upgrades:
The new and improved Thrustodyne Model 23 has a few upgrades over the version we know from Black Ops 2:
- Unlike its predecessor, you don’t have to worry about the Jet Gun breaking when it overheats!
- The Jet Gun can now cool down even when stowed.
- Using primary fire will suck in nearby power-ups and salvage, making them easy to collect. This will also come into play in the Liberty Falls Easter Egg Main Quest!
- You can now Pack-a-Punch the Wonder Weapon up to three times, upgrading its maximum fire time and lowering the cooldown time.
