The Turtles have arrived in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Zombies fans have a new mode to enjoy in ‘Cowabunga Cranked.’
Season 2 Reloaded is finally here for Black Ops 6, and Zombies players have a few new features to enjoy. We’re not getting another new map until at least Season 3, but Treyarch hasn’t forgotten about its undead survival mode in the mid-season update.
Alongside the arrival of The Tomb’s Directed Mode, players can now hop into a new game mode inspired by the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Cowabunga Cranked!
What Is Cowabunga Cranked?
Cowabunga Cranked is a new Black Ops 6-exclusive variant of Call of Duty: Zombies’ iconic Cranked game mode.
It is playable on all current Zombies maps: Terminus, Liberty Falls, Citadelle des Morts, and The Tomb.
Like in regular Cranked, players must continually eliminate zombies to reset their Cranked timer, which is always ticking down.
Should the timer reach zero without a user defeating an enemy, they will explode and the game will instantly end in defeat!
Cowabunga Cranked Differences
However, new to the regular Cranked experience, players can also enjoy the following Ninja Turtles-themed extras:
Pizza Power-Ups
Cowabunga Cranked adds three new Power-Ups that can help you stay alive in a tricky situation:
- Turtle Power: Provides a temporary health bonus and Pack-a-Punch Tier 3 Legendary Melee Weapons.
- Pizza Box: Fills the Cranked timer to max.
- Slice-O-Pie: Adds time to the Cranked timer.
Donny’s Time Stopper
In addition to the Power-Ups, all players will have access to the new Field Upgrade: Donny’s Time Stopper.
Use this special Field Upgrade at any point in the game and you’ll pause the Cranked timer for a full minute. Need to run to the Pack-a-Punch or complete an Easter Egg in peace?
This could be your best chance!
A Special Ninja Turtle Buff
In addition to all the other changes, Cowabunga Cranked also introduces a special buff that only applies to players using one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Operator skins.
Play as one of the premium Ninja Turtle Store Bundle skins to receive 50% reduced damage from behind, courtesy of your heroic half-shell.
Alternatively, playing as Splinter (available in the premium event pass) for a ‘slightly increased chance’ to get a Slice-O-Pie after defeating enemies.
We certainly wouldn’t buy an expensive cosmetic just for this bonus, but it’s a nice touch to add some extra Turtle Power to the TMNT game mode.
Cowabunga Cranked Main Quest
What’s particularly interesting is that all Zombies Main Quests will be available to complete inside the Cowabunga Cranked game mode.
Can you complete Terminus, Liberty Falls, Citadelle des Morts, and The Tomb’s Main Easter Egg Quests without letting your Cranked timer reach zero?
If you do manage to complete a map’s Easter Egg, you’ll earn a special TMNT-themed Calling Card as a special memento!
We don’t expect Cowabunga Cranked to stick around forever, so be sure to act fast if you’re after those special items!
