Companions seem to be a core component of Hogwarts Legacy, but who exactly will accompany you on your journey, and how does it all work?

It wouldn’t be a Hogwarts adventure if you didn’t have close and reliable friends by your side. So, it only makes sense that Hogwarts Legacy has companions.

Whether you’re in Hufflepuff, Slytherin, Gryffindor, or even Ravenclaw, there is bound to be someone supporting your journey.

Of course, you’ll first need to choose your Hogwarts house. Make sure it aligns with whoever your favorite characters are so you can visit them in your common room.

Who Are the Companions in Hogwarts Legacy?

Sebastian Sallow – Slytherin

Sebastian Sallow is one of the confirmed companions in Hogwarts Legacy, and he is in Slytherin. Thanks to a number of teasers and Twitter posts, we’ve learned a considerable amount about him.

He has a twin sister named Anne, who is suffering from a deadly curse. He’s sought out other means of healing her but believes that the cure lies within dark magic.

We’ve also seen him teach the player the Cruciatus curse in a trailer about the morality system in Hogwarts Legacy.

Sebastian’s relationship with the player seems a little strained at first, but will eventually grow into something meaningful.

He seems to have a bit of a rebellious side – which could be why he clashes with the player initially. He even gets involved with the pesky poltergeist Peeves!

Natsai Onai – Gryffindor

Natsai Onai is a confirmed companion in Hogwarts Legacy and is in Gryffindor. She is originally from Matabeleland in Africa and even attended the world’s largest wizarding school, Uagadou.

Being in Gryffindor, it’s no surprise that she’s an incredibly brave student. In fact, the majority of scenes featuring her in the State of Play tend to involve action or stealth.

We also know that her mother is the Divination professor at Hogwarts, and that’s why she had to move in the first place. It’s likely you and Natsai will become fast friends considering you’re both newcomers.

Poppy Sweeting – Hufflepuff

Poppy Sweeting is another confirmed companion in Hogwarts Legacy, and she is in Hufflepuff. She’s a kind and caring person who perhaps gets on with magical creatures a bit better than her fellow students.

However, it seems like she’s keen on introducing you to the wonderful world of magical creatures. It is very likely that she will be your way into caring for creatures yourself.

We see her and the player interact with a centaur. Therefore, it’s fair to say that a lot of her quests will be centered around helping magical creatures in some way.

Professor Eleazar Fig

In the various trailers and teasers shown for Hogwarts Legacy, we have seen Professor Eleazar Fig fight alongside or assist the player character.

He appears in dungeons, important cutscenes, and even in combat sequences. It stands to reason then that Professor Eleazar Fig will be a companion of sorts in Hogwarts Legacy.

Even if he is only around for the introduction of the game, or works as a form of a tutorial, it’s clear you’ll work with him in some capacity.

Solomon / a Weasley – Gryffindor

A red-haired boy – who people believe to be called Solomon – has been spotted numerous times across various trailers. Many fans have theorized that he could be another potential companion.

The name Solomon comes from the fact that during the Autodesk presentation, fans spotted a file named “SebastianSolomonFight”.

It is believed that this file – which included various animations – is the cutscene seen in the State of Play in which Sebastian Sallow and a red-haired Gryffindor have a duel.

Over on Reddit, keen-eyed fans have also suggested that this potential companion could even be a Weasley. The long shaggy red hair and Gryffindor robes could certainly point to that.

Of course, he could also just be a regular student that the player encounters every now and then. However, his repeated appearances in marketing materials would suggest otherwise.

This article will be updated if/when new companions are announced.

Is There a Ravenclaw Companion in Hogwarts Legacy?

There is currently no Ravenclaw companion in Hogwarts Legacy. Avalanche Software – the developers of Hogwarts Legacy – are yet to announce a Ravenclaw companion.

Many find it odd that one hasn’t been announced yet, and as a result, believe that they will be either pivotal to the story or a key figure in Harry Potter lore.

It would certainly be strange if one wasn’t included, especially considering there has been a companion per house out of the ones announced thus far.

So, it is likely that one will eventually be announced, or we may just have to wait until Hogwarts Legacy’s release date to find out for ourselves.

How Do Companions Work in Hogwarts Legacy?

In Hogwarts Legacy, companions seem to join the player and aid them in their journey. However, these NPCs could be tied to story-heavy segments or quests directly related to themselves and their stories.

Additionally, it seems companions will be almost entirely exclusive to missions and combat segments based on a lot of the gameplay we’ve seen.

There are so many instances of the player character exploring dungeons, Hogwarts, and Hogsmeade alone and without a companion by their side.

As a result, it seems highly unlikely that companions will work in the same way they do in a BioWare or Bethesda game.

Do Companions Follow You Around in Hogwarts Legacy?

It is possible that in certain segments or circumstances, companions in Hogwarts Legacy may follow you around, especially within Hogwarts itself.

In the State of Play gameplay reveal, we saw Natsai Onai and the player character leaving Hogwarts together, which could imply she’s available outside of missions to explore with.

However, it seems unlikely that they will tag along with you whenever you want them to. After all, they have their own studies and life to get on with.

But who knows, perhaps you’ll be solving mysteries and riddles together by using the intriguing new gameplay mechanic in Hogwarts Legacy.
