First Reactions to Warzone 2.0 & MW2 Gameplay Are Mixed

During the September 2022 CoD Next event, fans finally got to see gameplay for both MW2 and Warzone 2.0 and their reactions were definitely mixed.

If you’ve been following the teasers, trailers, and even leaks surrounding MW2 and Warzone 2.0, then you’ll have seen – or at least heard about – the CoD Next event. It showcased hours of footage surrounding both Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer modes and Warzone 2.

However, while it seemed like there was definitely love for the games at the time, since the event concluded reactions have been mixed.

Of course, if you are even remotely excited, then you’ll want to keep an eye on the Warzone 2.0 release date, as it is just around the corner.

What Was the CoD Community Reaction to Warzone 2.0?

The overall community reaction after the Warzone 2.0 presentation was mixed and made it clear many left unimpressed after the event.

Perhaps the most controversial aspect of the CoD Next event was Warzone 2.0 itself. It is apparent that while there are some people who liked Warzone 2 at the event, the community surrounding it isn’t impressed.

NYSL Aydan claimed Warzone 2.0 “will be the GREATEST Battle Royale of all time.” However, when he asked his fans what they thought, they definitely did not share the same feelings.

ModernWarzone tweeted out a poll asking his fans what they thought. 42% of nearly 30,000 votes said they did not like what they’d seen from Warzone 2.0.

A lot of people on Reddit spoke about how they weren’t enjoying the bigger focus on AI, the slower loot progression, and the massive changes to the Gulag. BennyCentral sent out a tweet that shared similar sentiments.

However, it wasn’t all negative. There are a lot of people who seem to enjoy what they’ve seen so far in Warzone 2.0. The aspect people seemed to enjoy the most is the return of some truly iconic CoD maps.

Of course, it is worth keeping in mind that a lot of what was shown is subject to change. By the time the majority of players get their hands on it, they could really like it.

What Was the CoD Community Reaction to MW2?

The general community reaction towards Modern Warfare 2 was a lot more positive, with many praising its Multiplayer presentation and third-person POV feature.

Additionally, there were a lot of streamers who attended the CoD Next event and seemed to enjoy it.

FaZe Clan couldn’t get enough of the game, while NoahJ said that the multiplayer side of MW2 was “feeling pretty good”.

There was definitely some backlash against the removal of the slide cancel. However, for the most part, people seemed to welcome the change, especially more casual players.

Another addition that was welcomed was the reintroduction of a third-person mode. Many welcomed the change simply due to it giving people more options when playing MW2.
