Major Cold War Zombies Outbreak Update Adds Night Cycle, New Events

There’s a big update coming to Black Ops Cold War Zombies’ Outbreak mode and it’s adding a night-time map, new events, and more.

Ever since Black Ops Cold War Zombies launched its Outbreak mode, approval on the game skyrocketed. Finally, players had a new reason to get excited about Cold War, and open-world Zombies is as fun as it sounds.

But after playing around with Outbreak for some time, it’s easy to get a little bored of the grind. After all, there are only 3 maps, as cool as each one is, and a limited amount of events to experience.

That’s why Treyarch is adding more to the game mode, ensuring that nobody gets the chance to grow tired of Outbreak. And it looks like a major update is just around the corner.

Treyarch Teases New Outbreak Update Featuring Night-Time and New Events

Black Ops Cold War Zombies is getting a huge Outbreak expansion update, featuring a night-time map, new events, and more.

This news comes after Treyarch began teasing their mid-season update on Twitter a few hours ago. The developer is likely raising hype for Cold War Season 2 Reloaded only days before the major update drops.

Here’s everything we know about Black Ops Cold War Season 2 Reloaded, including release date, file size, and more!

New Night-Time Map

The first hint that Treyarch dropped us was about Outbreak’s upcoming map: Sanatorium. In case you missed it, here are all the details about Cold War’s Sanatorium map that’s coming to Outbreak.

But it seems that there’s something different about Sanatorium this time around. After all, the map looks pretty dark, as Treyarch is teasing our first Outbreak map that takes place at night.

Interestingly, Sanatorium has major ties to the new Warzone map!

“New region. New objective. New intel. Think you can survive the Ural Mountains after dark?”

Many fans hope that Outbreak could be getting a day/night cycle in the newest update, but it’s more likely that the Sanatorium map will simply be set at night-time.

Hopefully we’ll see more teases towards Call of Duty 2021 in Outbreak mode following the new update. Of course, we already know much about the ‘alternate history” WW2 setting in COD 2021 already.

New Outbreak Events

When free-roaming around the Outbreak map, it looks like players will have a new objective to interact with too. In a second tweet, the Cold War developer shows off the Essence Conversion Module.

From what we can tell, this rocket-shaped device is capable of taking in essence and creating all manner of different objects in response. First, it looks as though players will be killing zombies in the area to siphon essence to the device.

After that, perhaps we’ll get some loot for our troubles, as the converter changes that essence into all manner of goodies. On a side note, why do so many Outbreak events end up being rockets?

That’s not the only new undead-themed news, however. Recently, we learned where Warzone’s zombies are moving to next.

And a new leak reveals just how long-winded the Warzone zombie invasion is going to end up being.

In case you missed it, there’s a new Black Ops Cold War Season 2 weapon releasing today! And you should definitely consider bringing it into Outbreak mode, as reports suggest that Cold War’s new weapon is overpowered in Zombies modes.
