It would seem that Infinity Ward is bringing classic maps from across Call of Duty’s history to the upcoming MW2 in a paid map pack.
Map packs were a staple of the Call of Duty franchise up until Black Ops 4, but disappeared with the launch of Modern Warfare 2019.
However, according to leaks, Modern Warfare 2 may just be getting one of the biggest and most nostalgic map packs in the franchise’s history.
It would make sense for Infinity Ward to go all out with MW2, especially as its Beta was one of Call of Duty’s biggest successes.

Are Classic CoD Maps Coming to MW2?
Many classic Call of Duty maps are coming back to MW2 (2022) according to a new leak.
Reliable Call of Duty leaker, Hope has stated that Infinity Ward is bringing a “greatest hits map pack” to Modern Warfare 2 that will include classic maps from across the series.
This map pack would be paid DLC, which, while it may divide the playerbase, makes sense considering its scale.
However, if true, the map pack will see maps from the original Modern Warfare 2 and other games from across Infinity Ward, Treyarch & Sledgehammer’s catalog come to MW2.
Fans may have to wait a while for these maps to appear, as Hope claims they would be making an appearance in MW2 Year 2.
Which Classic CoD Maps Are Coming to MW2?
Hope goes on to state that practically all of the original Modern Warfare 2 maps will be coming to MW2 in this map pack, which would mean the following maps:
- Afghan
- Bailout
- Carnival
- Crash
- Derail
- Estate
- Favela
- Fuel
- Highrise
- Invasion
- Karachi
- Overgrown
- Quarry
- Rundown
- Rust
- Salvage
- Scrapyard
- Skidrow
- Storm
- Strike
- Sub Base
- Terminal
- Trailer Park
- Underpass
- Vacant
- Wasteland
On top of that, Hope suggests that some classic Treyarch and Sledgehammer Games maps may also make an appearance!

Of course, we’ve known that some of those maps are returning for some time, as these MW2 maps are confirmed to appear in Warzone 2.
As with all leaks, it is worth taking this one with a grain of salt. However, a move like this doesn’t seem completely unrealistic, as Modern Warfare (2019) also included classic maps from the original CoD 4.
That said, it’s been some time now since Activision expected fans to pay for the additional content.
Paid MW2 Campaign DLC Also Rumoured
CoD leaker Hope has further stated that alongside the map pack, a paid campaign DLC will be coming to MW2 in 2023.
While not many details were offered, they claimed that the campaign would be bundled in with the aforementioned map pack.
Activision has denied claims that a 2023 Call of Duty game had been delayed. However, it did confirm in an earnings call that premium CoD content would be coming next year.
It is unclear as to what this premium content will be, but it is possible that this leaked campaign DLC could be it.
Outside of this map pack and campaign DLC, fans can also expect significant changes coming to MW2 after its brief Beta period.
