Citadelle des Morts is here for Black Ops 6 Zombies and we’ve got a step-by-step guide to help you complete the Main Quest Easter Egg.
The Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies storyline has finally taken us to the Principality of Avalon in ‘Citadelle des Morts.’
In this follow-up to the events of both Terminus and Liberty Falls, the former members of Requiem are on a mission to find the Sentinel Artifact.
This mysterious artifact is believed to be able to manipulate Prima Materia – the original material of the universe itself – and rescuing demonologist Gabriel Krafft may be key to discovering its location.

Completing the Citadelle des Morts Main Quest Guide
As usual, the first thing we need to do in Citadelle des Morts is activate the Pack-a-Punch machine.
For this step, the game will guide you using step-by-step directions anyway, so skip to Step 2 if you’ve already discovered the Pack-a-Punch.
Step 1: Activate the Pack-a-Punch
- When you spawn in, you’ll want to eliminate a Round or two of zombies to gather enough Essence to unlock some doors.
- To speed up the process, we recommend using the Rampage Inducer right next to your spawn point. Just don’t forget to turn it off after you’re done!
- Follow the orange on-screen directions to the castle using either route, spending Essence to unlock the doors in your way.
- When you reach the castle, open the door to the Hillside Ramparts, and hold interact (Square/X/F) on the giant cannon’s wheel to rotate it.

- Once rotated to face the castle, interact with the cannon’s rear to fire it and break down the castle doors.
- Then, follow the on-screen directions once again until you discover the Oubliette Room.

- Shoot the locks off the large box inside and you’ll come face to face with a Doppelghast – Citadelle des Morts’ brand-new enemy type.
- Defeat the Doppelghast and it will drop a Blood Aetherium Crystal.

- Collect the Crystal and place it into the portal inside the box to spawn the Pack-a-Punch machine.
- You can now freely upgrade your weapons at any point by returning to the machine here.

Step 2: Find Gabriel Krafft
- Next, from the Pack-a-Punch, head back to the previous room via the corridor and you’ll find yourself in the Dungeon.
- When your characters are done talking, head to this wooden door behind the Quick Revive Perk-a-Cola machine.

- Interact (Square/X/F) with the hatch on the door to open it – behind it you’ll find Krafft!
Step 3: Find Torn Page Fragment Locations
- Next up, find the Sitting Room where the Stamin-Up Perk machine is located.
- Inside this room, there will be four Torn Page fragments to find.
- These pages will only be found in and around the outside of this room, but their spawns are randomized each game. Thankfully, they’re pretty easy to spot, being marked with a glowing red symbol.

- Find and interact with all four Torn Page fragments to pick them up.
- These pages won’t be needed until Step 5, but we recommend collecting them here as you’ll need to reach Round 10 for the next step anyway.

Step 4: Craft the Elemental Swords
Citadelle des Morts has four variants of its Wonder Weapon for players to discover.
Although you can only hold one of them at a time (unless you’re playing with a squad), you’ll need to find and craft all four elemental swords in order to complete the Main Quest Easter Egg.
- Before beginning this next step, you’ll need to reach Round 10.
- At this point, you’ll start to encounter special knight zombies who wear helmets on their heads. Killing them will drop a Stamp, which you need to collect.
- Each player can only hold one Stamp at a time.

- Take a Stamp to the Dining Hall in the center of the castle (the room with the missing roof), and interact with one of the statues.

- This will deposit your stamp and allow you to take the Bastard Sword that the statue is holding.
- Each statue has a different sword associated with a different animal. For example, the sword taken from the statue with a lion on his chest is the Lion Bastard Sword.
- Bear in mind that each Bastard Sword has a different upgrade path, so carefully choose the one you’d like to use first!
- To complete the Easter Egg Main Quest, you’ll need to craft all four elemental swords, but they can be done in any order.

- Follow the steps below to upgrade your weapon of choice:
Lion Bastard Sword
- From the Dining Hall where you claimed the sword, look for this glowing crystal in the rafters.

- Shoot the crystal and it will start emitting a beam of light.
- Try to stand underneath where the beam is pointing and shoot the crystal once again.

- Repeat this step, standing under the dimly reflected beams, and shooting back at the crystal to activate each new beam.
- Some of the crystals you shoot will need several shots to properly position them.
- You’ll know a crystal has been redirected properly when the beam turns from thin and wispy to a firm beam of red light.

- The final beam of light will point to a bust on the table in the Alchemical Lab. Interact with it to pick up the Paladin’s Brooch.

- A yellow spot will start to glow on the floor of the Dining Hall, near an image of a Lion. Hold interact on it to deposit the Paladin’s Brooch.
- Then, kill enemies in the nearby area until the Brooch turns into a golden chest.

- Then head to the Village Ascent (the path on the left when you come out of the castle). Every round when you have the Lion Sword, glowing Parasites will begin to spawn.
- Take out the Lion Bastard Sword.
- Controller: Press and Hold Right Stick
- PC: Press and hold V or Mouse 4
- Kill a glowing Parasite to make your sword glow. Then, head to this wooden door with the Lion knocker and strike it to add a golden symbol.

- Repeat this three more times until the door has four symbols on it.
- If you run out of glowing Parasites, simply wait until the next Round for more to arrive.

- Interact with the lion door to enter it, then run up to the pedestal inside and interact with it to place your sword down.
- The sword will begin to glow and a rune will appear on the pedestal. Find the matching rune on the walls nearby and shoot it to infuse the Bastard Sword.

- The pedestal symbol will then change, and you must find and shoot the new symbol. Repeat until all four symbols have been shot.
- If you make a mistake, you’ll have to start to pattern over. If you don’t succeed in time, you’ll appear outside the door with your base sword once more, and you can re-enter the room next round.
- You can now claim your sword once again. Once done, head back to the golden chest in the Dining Hall and hit it to open it.

- Press Square/X/F to take the Light Incantation.
Dragon Bastard Sword
- With the Dragon Bastard Sword, head to the Courtyard right at the castle entrance, and head up the stairs to find a Dragon Statue.
- Interact with the statue to place your sword down.

- Head outside the nearby door and go to the Hillside Battlements near the cannon.
- There, you’ll see a flaming Dragon Brazier and you can interact with it to set yourself on fire.

- While on fire, run quickly back to the Dragon Statue and interact with it once again to deposit your flames.
- You will take damage while ablaze, so be sure to do this step quickly!
- Next, head to the Hilltop near spawn and find another Dragon Brazier. Interact with it to claim the Dragon Fire.

- This time, while running the flames back to the Dragon Statue, you must melee purple-eyed zombies to kill them and restore your health.
- If you don’t do this, you’ll die to the fire damage, so go out of your way if needed to kill these special zombie spawns.

- The next Dragon Brazier is located in the Town Square spawn area. Interact with the flame and run it back to the Dragon Statue once again, using the path to the right.
- Don’t forget to melee every purple-eyed zombie you see to restore your health as you run!

- With all three Dragon Braziers infused, you’ll be able to interact with the statue to claim the fire sword.

- To unlock the Fire Incantations, you’ll then need to light up three bonfires nearby. This can be done using your Dragon Bastard Sword’s special ability (L2+R2/LT+RT/LClick+RClick) when charged – or simply using Molotovs.
- The first bonfire can be found near the Dragon Brazier on the ramparts, just left of the Oil Trap. Look to the East and for the pile of wood located here.

- The second bonfire is on the roof of the doorway on the northwest side of the Hillside Ramparts.

- The third and final bonfire is above the main entryway of the castle, allowing you to set it on fire by using your sword’s special ability or a Molotov from where the cannon is found.

- Each time you light a bonfire, you’ll need to defeat a horde of zombies that spawn from the fire. The final bonfire will spawn a Doppelghast which drops Ra’s Ankh when defeated.
- Pick up Ra’s Ankh and take it to the glowing spot that will appear on the ground in the Courtyard.

- Then defeat enemies in this area until the Ankh turns into a golden chest.
- Melee the chest to open it and press Square/X/F to claim the Fire Incantation.

Stag Bastard Sword
- To charge your Stag Bastard Sword, you’ll need to collect Lightning Rods from around the Citadelle des Morts map.
- The first, and perhaps the trickiest to come by is the one that is dropped by an Armored Zombie, which in the Dungeon near Krafft.
- Simply head to the Dungeon, wait for the undead to spawn and kill it to find the first Lightning Rod. Then, pick it up.

- The second Lightning Rod is beside the Deadshot Daiquiri machine on the Hilltop to the left of spawn.

- For the third Lightning Rod, you’ll need to spend 500 Salvage to get the Dead Wire Ammo Mod from the Arsenal. Then, head to the Courtyard and shoot the electrical box below:
- Alternatively, you can use a Shock Charge on the box to accomplish this step!

- Shooting the electrical box will carry a charge up the nearby antennae and drop the final Lightning Rod.

- On the Hillside Ramparts near the cannon you’ll see a strange-looking urn. Interact with it to place all three Lightning Rods inside.

- A storm will begin to brew and you must kill purple-eyed zombies with your Bastard Sword to charge up the blade. Once charged, melee the Lightning Rod container to deposit the lightning within.
- Repeat three times until all three Rods are charged.
- Regular Round zombies will not charge up your blade, but they will continue to spawn. Be careful not to get overrun, as you only have a limited time to complete this step before the Lightning Rods get ejected.

- Once it’s fully charged, interact with the Lightning Rod container to deposit your sword inside. This will imbue it with lightning energy.
- Interact with it once again to reclaim the blade.

- Return to the barn where Deadshot Daiquiri can be found, and look above the barn door to spot a Horseshoe.

- Shoot Otto’s Horseshoe to drop it, then pick it up.
- Both the Horseshoe and Lightning Rod nearby can technically be collected earlier in the game if you prefer.
- Head to the cannon on the battlements, and interact with its mouth to climb inside and fire yourself out. This will cause you to drop the Horseshoe.

- Then, look for the storm cloud in the sky, and head beneath it to find your Horseshoe.
- The Horseshoe will appear electrically charged, now named Pegasus’ Horseshoe. Pick it up.

- Head to the Town Square spawn area and interact with the glowing yellow spot on the ground to deposit the Horseshoe.
- Then kill zombies in the area nearby until it turns into a golden chest.

- Melee the chest to open it and press Square/X/F to claim the Electric Incantation.
Raven Bastard Sword
- After exchanging a Stamp for the Raven Bastard Sword, head into the Alchemical Lab.
- Here you will be looking for a particular Antiquity that changes each time you play. You will only find one of the following items in your game:
- A horn on the shelves near the table.

- A jawbone on the bookshelves in the corner.
- A fish fossil on the shelves left of the Purple Armor Wall Buy.
- A scorpion fossil on the table near the globe.
- A pair of bird skulls on the bookshelves.

- Pick up the Antiquity and, regardless of which you find, head back to the Town Square spawn area.
- Head into the Tavern Cellar and interact with the dial on the wall to place your Antiquity.

- While holding your Raven Sword, interact with the dial again to place it inside. Then, you’ll be able to move the rings within.
- Depending on your Antiquity, you’ll need to spin the dials until they match the following patterns.
- Many thanks to MrRoflWaffles for compiling this handy list of solutions.

- A purple portal will open in the ground nearby. Stand nearby and a series of purple orbs will head from the dial and into the portal.
- The orbs will always move to your location, so you need to stand close in order to guide them to their destination.
- Try not to walk into the orbs or shoot them, as both will cause them to explode without reaching the portal.

- Once it closes, the next portal will open inside the Tavern. Stand near it and the purple orbs will continue to flow into the portal.

- Your final portal will appear upstairs in the Tavern, so continue standing close to it until the process completes one last time.

- Return to the dial in the Tavern Cellar and interact with it to pull out your sword. It will move into the portal below the dial.
- Then, pick up the newly infused Raven Bastard Sword that comes out.

- Now head to the Oubliette Room where the Pack-a-Punch machine is located, and find the nearby porthole.
- Pull out your gun, then pay the 500 Essence required to use the ‘Cave Slide.’

- On the way down the slide, shoot the raven that is perched on a broken section of wall ahead of you. This will cause it to leave the sewer.

- When you arrive at the Town Square after sliding, look to the sky and shoot the raven out of the air. It will drop a Raven’s Talon.

- Pick up the Raven’s Talon and take it to the castle Undercroft.
- There you’ll find a glowing spot in the ground in which to deposit the item.
- Then kill zombies in the nearby area and a golden chest will spawn in its place.

- Melee the chest to open it and press Square/X/F to claim the Dark Incantation.
Step 5: Solve the Symbol Puzzle
- Buy the Melee Macchiato Perk from the Courtyard (or get it by using the Perkaholic GobbleGum)
- Then, head down to the Undercroft once again and melee the weak-looking wall on the far side of the room.

- This will reveal a series of symbols that need to be shot in a specific order that changes each game.

- To find the order, head to the Tavern.
- Inside, there will be six strange vials that you can interact with to reveal a hidden symbol on each one.

- Each bottle has a Roman numeral on its neck, revealing which order the symbols need to be used in.

- Remember the order of the six symbols, then return to the Undercroft.
- Shoot the symbols in the order they appeared in the vials to reveal a secret book. Interact with it to add the Page Fragments you found in Step 3.
- Remember which symbols appeared in your book, in the order: top left, bottom left, top right, bottom right.

- You must now interact with the four traps around the map that match the order of those symbols. These special traps appear as glowing red symbols on the floor around the map.
- Be very careful to activate the correct traps as getting it incorrect runs the risk of having to start over. Some symbols looks very similar to one another, so double check the book if you’re unsure.

- After activating each trap, get kills while standing inside its area to complete it. That symbol will then fade from the book.
Step 6: Summon the Mystic Orb
- Just downstairs from the Sitting Room, you’ll now see four elemental animal symbols appear on the wall.
- The symbols will be marked with Roman numerals and are listed from 1-4 starting at the top and counting clockwise. However, the order of the animals themself are always random in each game.

- Whatever animal appears first, head to the Dining Hall again and interact with that elemental sword’s Incantation Box.
- In the example above, the player has to start with the Raven Sword.
- Make sure you’re holding the correct Bastard Sword, and collect its corresponding Incantation from the chest nearby.
- You’ll be able to re-claim fully-charged Bastard Swords from their statues at any point – so don’t worry about losing them!
- Then use the Incantation (which is bound to your Tactical Equipment button) on its original sword owner’s statue and it’ll start to glow the spell’s color.
- For example, if the Raven appears at the top of your list, hold the Raven Sword, and use the Dark Incantation on the statue with the Raven on its shoulder.

- When standing in front of the statue, hold your sword and use the Weapon Inspect animation
- Console: Tap Left D-Pad Twice
- PC: Press I
- If done correctly, the statue will begin glowing gold after a short delay. Make sure you wait for it to turn gold before you move on to the next sword in the order.

- Repeat the steps above for the animal that appears second, third, and fourth, until you have four glowing statues.
- Once the order is complete, a Mystic Orb will appear from the heavens and you can pick it up.

Step 7: Complete the Elemental Challenges
The following Elemental Challenges can be completed in any order, you need to complete them all to progress the Easter Egg.
For each one, simply take the corresponding elemental sword to the location, deposit the Mystic Orb into the holder, then complete the challenge in the nearby area.
- The Fire Elemental Challenge is situated in the Courtyard.
- To complete the challenge, you need to use fire damage to eliminate nearby zombies.
- You can use both the elemental sword’s special fire attacks (L2+R2/LT+RT), Molotov, or even the Fire Incantation for this challenge, as the only requirement is dealing fire damage.

- The Light Elemental Challenge is found on the upper level of the Dining Hall.
- For this one, stand inside the big green balls of light that spawn around the area to send them flying into the Mystic Orb.
- Repeat this step until the challenge is complete.

- The Dark Elemental Challenge is waiting in the Undercroft.
- To complete this trial, you need to use the Raven Bastard Sword’s special attack or the Dark Incantation to suck enough zombies into the portal that spawns.

- The Lightning Elemental Challenge is located in the Town Square spawn area.
- Use the Electric Incantation and the sword’s special attack to shock zombies, dealing as much electric damage as possible to complete this trial.

Once you’re done with each challenge, take the Mystic Orb to the next one until all are complete.
Now, when you have all four Elemental Challenges complete, it’s time for the final boss.
Step 8: Trigger the Final Boss Fight
Before the next step, we highly advise getting yourself as ready as possible!
Don’t forget to bring in at least one Pack-a-Punch Tier 3 weapon, Purple Armor, and all the Perks you need. High-tier GobbleGums and a Mutant Injector are also recommended, as this is not an easy fight.
- Interact with the elemental animal symbols on the wall near the Sitting Room to insert the Mystic Orb and open a secret room.

- Head into the room and interact with the table to activate the Ancient Mystic Recording.
- Interact with the cylinder on the table to grab the Guardian Key.

- Then, take the Guardian Key to the statue in the Town Square and deposit it near the statue’s feet to start the final boss fight.
Step 8: Defeat The Guardian
- In the first phase, you’ll want to get behind The Guardian and shoot its back. This will eventually shatter a part of its armor, making it take more damage.
- The Deadshot Daiquiri Augments that increase damage to Armor are very effective here!
- After that, shoot glowing weak spots which appear on The Guardian’s body to maximize your damage output.

- After the boss has taken enough damage, it will slam down its weapon and become completely immune. During this time, simply survive the undead hordes and make sure to top up your ammo using the nearby crates if needed.
- Continue to shoot the boss, which will get more aggressive as time goes on.

- Remember to use your Mutant Injector if you’re ever in a tricky situation. The Mangler’s Cannon is a good way to deal damage to The Guardian’s weak spots while remaining safe from harm.
- The more damage you dish out, the more weak spots will open up. Take your time, keep away from the boss, and make sure you’re not getting overrun by zombies.
- Once you’ve defeated The Guardian, the Citadelle des Morts Main Quest Easter Egg is finally complete in Black Ops 6 Zombies!
