Can You Get A Second Cosmog in Pokemon GO?

Cosmog has two different evolutions – Solgaleo and Lunala – but can you get a second Cosmog to evolve in Pokemon GO?

Pokemon GO is about catching ’em all but if you want to complete the Pokedex you need to evolve a lot of Pokemon too.

The A Cosmic Companion Special Research Story gives players Cosmog, the only Legendary Pokemon that can evolve. However, it doesn’t evolve in the same way as most other Pokemon as it has two final evolutions.

Usually, this wouldn’t be a problem but players only get given one Cosmog. So is it possible to get another COsmog so you can evolve them into both Solgaleo and Lunala?

Can You Catch Another Cosmog in Pokemon GO?

No, you cannot get a second Cosmog in Pokemon GO at the moment.

Currently, the only way to get a Cosmog is through the A Cosmic Companion Special Research Story. This Research only gives you a single Cosmog and you cannot repeat it so that limits every player to just one Cosmog.

Therefore, whether you should choose Sologaleo or Lunala as Cosmog’s final evolution in Pokemon GO is an important decision to make!

Will You Ever Be Able to Get Two Cosmog in Pokemon GO?

Niantic has hinted that another method of catching Cosmog in Pokemon GO will be added “in the distant future” on the Pokemon GO Blog.

Additionally, we expect the developer to introduce a way of catching Solgaleo and Lunala in the future too. Either of these would allow players to get both Legendaries.

Mythical Pokemon Hoopa Unbound, which was previously only obtainable through a Research Story, has been in Pokemon GO’s new Elite Raids recently. Therefore, it would make sense to see Solgaleo and Lunala in Elite Raids in the future.

Even if there’s currently no way of getting both Solgaleo and Lunala, there are still plenty more Legendaries to catch. Here’s every Legendary Pokemon in Pokemon GO so you can keep track of which ones you’ve caught already!
