The Grafted Scion is one of the first bosses that you will encounter in Elden Ring, and players are wondering if it’s possible to defeat it.
It wouldn’t be a FromSoftware game if it didn’t set you up for failure from the start. Thankfully, Elden Ring does not disappoint.

Elden Ring: How to Beat the Grafted Scion
Yes, you can defeat the Grafted Scion in Elden Ring.
This might surprise a lot of players. The Grafted Scion is the first boss you will encounter in Elden Ring. This happens minutes after the game begins, which means you will have to fight the Grafted Scion with only your starting equipment and no consumables.
That means that players won’t even be able to heal themselves in battle.
Defeating the Grafted Scion will also give players some unique rewards. You’ll receive some items that you won’t be able to use effectively until you level up your character quite a few times.
The first special reward is the Ornamental Straight Sword. You’ll also get your hands on the Golden Beast Crest Shield.
And, even if you do manage to defeat the Grafted Scion to advance to the game’s opening cutscene, you’ll still need to die. Simply head across the nearby bridge, and your death is soon to follow!
