If you were looking forward to playing the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Campaign in early access, we’ve got some disappointing news!
Ever since the launch of Modern Warfare 2 (2022), Activision has been offering one week of early access to its game’s Campaign modes.
By pre-ordering the games prior to launch, players could access both the Modern Warfare 2 and 3 Campaigns up to a week early – ensuring that they are finished and ready to jump into Multiplayer the moment the official release rolls around.
This has been a great way to drum up hype for the game, teach players essential mechanics, and encourage pre-orders, but it seems that Treyarch isn’t as big on early access as Infinity Ward is.
Is There Campaign Early Access for Black Ops 6?
No, Activision has confirmed that there is no form of Campaign early access for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
The Campaign will not be available to play a week early, like Modern Warfare 2 and 3 before it. Instead, the Black Ops 6 story mode will launch alongside the rest of the full package experience on October 25, 2024.
The news was broken via Call of Duty news account CharlieIntel over on X, who reportedly had an Activision rep confirm the following information:
“This year, we made the decision to ensure the community gets to dig in to any and all modes that they want at the same time, so we are back to one massive global launch moment October 25th. As such, there is no Early Access beat this year for Black Ops 6, just the countdown to launch.”
This is sure to impact the Campaign’s player count, as it’s well known that many COD fans tend to leap straight into the Multiplayer first.
Having the Campaign available a week early undoubtedly led to far more players actually experiencing the game’s story over the last few years.
But that can be a double-edged sword, as seen from the MW3 Campaign early access, which was completable in just a handful of hours and led to extremely negative player feedback online.
We’re certain that the Black Ops 6 Campaign won’t disappoint, as Treyarch is already confirming that the story mode will take longer to beat than MW3’s offering.
