Modern Warfare 2 Remastered was nowhere to be seen during the Call of Duty 2019 reveal earlier today. A new listing suggests it’s still on the horizon, however.
MW2 Remastered Listing on Australian Classification Board
The title appears to still be in development, as per a recent listing courtesy of the Australian Classification Board. The date of certification was the 23rd of May, 2019, which is only one week ago.
We can confirm that this listing is still published on the website, as of the time writing this. Fans will be able to discover it themselves via selecting the ‘Computer Games’ category on their website and then searching for ‘Modern Warfare 2’.
The production company and publisher seems to be ‘Gaming Platform Team’. This aspect of the listing has raised a few eyebrows, while many would expect the publisher to be Activision Blizzard.
Further to this, the applicant has also been listed as IARC, while classification number is 102280542. The Australian Classification Board has also listed Modern Warfare 2 as ‘G’, which stands for general. At this moment in time, no platforms have been featured in the listing.
While the listing doesn’t explicitly mention MW2 Remastered, many have deemed this as nothing to do with the rumored title. However, the original MW2 game does, in fact, already have its own listing up on the website from almost ten years ago.
Even though it doesn’t mention ‘Remastered’, we still bet our bottom dollar the listing is referring to MW2 Remastered. As to whether a remastered version of MW2 multiplayer or the campaign will be releasing later this year, is a different question.
Gaming INTEL sources have previously mentioned that the title was in development, albeit only the campaign. Our sources made no comment as to whether it’d accompany the launch of Call of Duty Modern Warfare or not.
This isn’t the first time MW2 has appeared on official classification websites. Many of you may remember the title receiving PEGI and ESRB ratings earlier this year, for example.
